I’ve been experimenting with a creative process called Trepanning. It involves boring a hole in your head with an electric drill (don’t try this at home; use the shed) to let in new ideas. The results are this danceable ditty and accompanying short film, which features startling communications from the flaming fist in the sky, the appearance of alien life forms as well as the plastic magic of Lite Brite. Thanks to Rani Goel (cinematography), Bulk Foodveyor (visitation from space) and Ed Goldfarb (music production).

I’ve written just one song since the coronavirus hit the fan. Called “Garden Gone Wrong”, it’s my attempt at capturing the strangeness of these times...  I home-grew a recording (that whining noise is a Stylophone) and painted myself entirely green for the video - Here ‘tis!

Garden Gone Wrong

Writing a song in the latter part of 2020 is like taking a screwdriver made of weasels and inserting it into your own aching gut. In my second attempt at making music this year, I undertook a harrowing tour of my interior landscape of fear and madness, scooped out what I could, and threw it on a wall for others to (hopefully) enjoy. This is called “The Old Country” and it’s my humble attempt to reflect on the twists of fate we’ve endured and the spiraling road that lies ahead… Hope you dig it!
