Down Along The Dixieline

International Rescue were a power-pop band that played a mix of originals and covers around Adelaide in the early 1980s. They had an exuberant DIY, hedonistic and hopeful attitude. They made no records but were recorded live-to-air from 5MMM Magill Rd in 1983. Members of International Rescue went on to play in Adelaide bands including Exploding White Mice, The Coneheads, TV Dinners, The Haggards, Lost Weekend, Ramonettes, Funnyboys and Puppet Show.
Recorded in a defunct undertakers in Adelaide, South Australia

On the very first night of Three D Radio’s Monday night community sing-a-long ‘Hillbilly Hoot’, Pancho Durango & his 12-string guitar appeared out of nowhere and helped set the tone. Some say he came to Adelaide as a Zapatista refugee from the hills of Chiapas only to return to die in a desert down in Mexico in 2010. Really, there ain’t nobody knows. Only a few tapes of his performances remain.
