ACT 4 - augmentation 

The solo classical guitar version titled “Smear” was written for my friend Samuel Rubinstein. Here is a little paragraph of what he had to say about it.   

"I asked Bart to write a piece for me. I told him to just write whatever best represents him. So, he writes a piece that is 12 tone and anti-romantic. But, try as he may, he still can't escape the black hole of tonality and the piece Smear has moments that are in fact pretty and melodic, sometimes even Chopinesque; which makes for a diverse piece that uses almost all the techniques available in the classical guitar's arsenal. Some parts of the piece are also a bit quirky and vaguely reminds me of Roland Dyens, especially in how detailed the piece is with its specific notation markings. After the machine gun-like tremolo part comes in, the piece evolves into something groovy in almost a rock 'n roll way and, for lack of better words, sounds quite bad ass at that point. Since this piece has melodic, "nice" sounding moments and so much diversity, it's able to appeal to those who may not normally like or "get'' contemporary classical music, and perhaps even serve as a gateway into the more abstract (sometimes atonal) styles of classical music." - Samuel Rubinstein

With this new version called “Smeared”, Sam and I went to great lengths to realize my original vision for the piece. This version utilizes all the production techniques I was thinking about while composing the original but was unable to employ them while keeping it pure for a solo instrument. 

This new version takes advantage of many different production techniques and timbral variations with the biggest focus being on reamping the guitar and utilizing Sam’s unbelievable amp collection to achieve sounds that are very unique and highlight each part as well as different sections of the piece.

لو فرد واحد منه اتخلف عنه يتوه يضيع 
لقى انه لازم يلاقي حد جمبه فقام قال انا مش هكون وسطيهم مسخ الا الاستسلام

كحب المرحلة أو العمر كماسة خشب و  شاريكي

انا عملت بإيدي صنم وحبيته.. تعرف
لو كان بإيدي كنت حييته و صحيته 
هووو!!!  مبيتكلمش ياما بس بيسليني 
معاه كنت بتحسن قربه مني بيقويني

كنتي من نسج خيالي مش حقيقة مش شجن
انا اللي كنت بغير نفسي كل ده مش انتي 
انا اللي وصلت لكدة بدونك هة فهمتي
انا تمام صاغ سليم ومش مريض نفسي 
انا اللي كنت خايف اقوم بس قومت بنفسي
