Why cover this song? 

From David Bowie's 1974 album Diamond Dogs, one of my favourite Bowie albums. Diamond Dogs divided critical opinion at the time of its release but has been favourably re-evaluated in recent years.

I realised recently that Diamond Dogs is actually a gateway to William Burroughs, covering themes found in Burroughs' work and George Orwell's 1984. We are the Dead (title from 1984) sung by Bowie with an alternating tenderness and dread is, for me, amongst his greatest vocal performances.

My newest song I wrote Sep 30, in the wee hours of the night, 1-3am... A few lyrics came to me awhile back, I usually always come up with a melody first then the lyrics, but this time happened differently, once I hit the D chord then another, it all just came together very fast, as a songwriter, these unexpected nights always amaze me, I've never been the type to say oh I'm gonna write a song today...they've always just came to me. These were feelings that weighed very  heavily on me almost a year ago now, strange how I wrote this now...guess it's a closure song that I needed deep down. Sometimes things can just surface.  I hope someone out there can relate. Recorded live tonight on my 60's Baldwin, Rode NT1 mic, hooked into a Tascam Portacapture x8. Thanks so much for listening!! I have another new song I'll be laying down soon, and a lot more old material too.

Only thing missing is my 2.5 year old son in Indiana

Conquered anything in my path

I don’t care about money
I care about others who need help
I plan to help others through music and my story… there’s a lot more to this
I worked my ass off my whole life and have two suitcases to show for it. But I found myself and I’m damn proud of what I have accomplished while people were laughing in my face the whole way…
This is the story that needs to be heard. It’s big. Take all the money… just let it be heard so I can get my baby back

You can beat me down and take things away from me. But you can’t destroy the passion, drive, and ability that I worked so hard and struggled to achieve.
