With 'Koukou' we welcome back Kate Ozz to ICONYC. To open the release, Kate drops the wonderful 'Elusive Dreams'. A track full of deep harmonious vibes, as Kate guides us through the atmospheric vibe, while the arrangement keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds. 'Elusive Dreams' conveys a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding elements, capped off by the deep groove. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The groove and melodies are the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm glow, creating an air of sophistication. 

Kate closes the EP with the title track 'Koukou', a classy indie dance track with infectious chords, intense drums and smooth breakdown to get you moving. It's all about the groove, cool house vibes and the driving beats that are working their magic around Irene's wonderfully arranged keys that create an irresistible rhythm while clever chords take the mind on a trip. 'Essential stuff'!

Premiere: Forty Cats - Forest Beast (Ric Niels Remix) [Sound Avenue]

'Pedro Capelossi makes a welcome return to Loot Recordings with three new originals that showcases his deep, hazy sound that’s immersed in melodic atmospheres and cosmic soundscapes. 

The title track “Horimono” is a mesmerizing affair with an arrangement of warm chord stabs, swirling synths and spaced-out vibes. The breakdown brings us in deeper, creating mystery with a seductive female spoken vocal. Brazil’s Gabriel Chiari delivers a remix that increases the energy for the peak time moments that intertwines smooth layers of deep house with the grit of deep techno aesthetics. 

“Irezumi” is a deep groove of swaying synths combined with psychedelic overtones, accented by whirling synth hooks and a booming bass rhythm. Krissky delivers a dubby, tripped out interpretation that appears to stretch time with its slow groove and tweaked out effects and analog sounds. A real tension builder.

Closing the release is “Dark Purpose”, highlighted by a punchy bass line, crisp percussion on top of comforting strange effects and blissful chords. A real chunky groove that can set the tone for the night or welcome the morning sun.'

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
