When i first heard about Eprom from Gaslamp Killer I totally freaked out, but when I heard his album Halflife I knew I had to work with him somehow.  So I called him up and invited him down to LA.  This was a really natural collaboration. He came down to Venice and we sat in the studio for 3 days working on these tunes.  I don’t fan boy about very many producers but Eprom is one of the greatest in my humble opinion and he didn’t disappoint. We had all the analog stuff routing back and forth, then sampling it, resampling it, reworking it — the super cool mind of a maniac up in here.

Moon Juice was made strictly with 808 sounds, even the angelic arp style pads are made from modified 808 kick drums. Crawled Eagle is that more nasty Eprom vibe reminiscent of Center of the Sun from Halflife.  I added all my bits throughout as well.  Listeners beware this ain’t house music if that’s what you are expecting!

Channeling a love affair with classic '90s hip-hop, an affinity for otherworldly themes and an ear for raw funk, Barclay Crenshaw uses his given birth name to bare his soul and deliver a slowed-down, emotive collection of collaborations and instrumentals. This self-titled debut album is a left-field departure from his better-known alias, Claude VonStroke, but the quality is undeniably the same. The themes of ancient alien abductions and exploration of time and space are discovered and brought to life over ten tracks that sound like a mixture of gold rope chains and new age enlightenment. Barclay Crenshaw has stolen alien science data from the last ship to crash in North America and used the technology to produce a track with twin female rappers from Inglewood, California. This may seem like an odd use of technology, but at this point the mission has changed and music is the only thing left that can save the planet. The amazing 23 year old twin sister duo, Cam & China, have already earned their title of “The Baddest” in the booming West Coast rap scene. Originally part of Pink Dollaz—the Queens of the peak jerkin’ era—the siblings have shaped their raw, fierce sound with collaborators including MIA, DJ Mustard, Battlecat and D.R.U.G.S and recognized from LA Weekly as “The Best Hip Hop Duo in LA”.
