At the controls of this week's RYC transmission is a DJ we particularly look up to. Hailing out of Leipzig, Unitas Multiplex chief exec Vincent Neumann is the epitome of a skilled jockey, clinical on the momentum and transition but by no means standoffish or emotionless. Far from that, his sets deploy the most infectious arsenal of incendiary wares, spanning the whole spectrum of electronics with panache and poise. Psychotherapist by trade, Neumann's acute understanding of the dancer's psyche sure shines bright through this helluva hectic treat. To those who've been lucky enough to attend one of his seminal ten-hour sets this will ring a most emotional bell, to those who're yet to experience it, we're certain the present mix will offer an ideal point of entry into his ever-tasteful selections and supreme knack for groove manipulation. My next guest who brings some "Moments Of Light & Darkness" to the surface, is an artist, DJ and producer, who calls himself Center Of Light. @centeroflight
To introduce his mix he provided a small text: 
"It was meant to be a recovery day — quiet, healing. But the weight came back, heavier than before. Each time I stood, something pulled me down again. The hours blurred, full of silence, setbacks, and slow breaths.
Still, I kept trying — not out of hope, but habit. And somehow, in the end, I was on my feet. Not strong. Not whole. Just standing. And maybe, for today, that was enough." 

This unique selection, from mindfulness to ambient sections, developes further to minimal patterns and comes with deepness.

I don't know, if this album title is related to the fact, that the upper world is a term from some shamanistic traditions, which is meant as a place of wisdom, love, healing and compassion. It is a place where we can get a bigger perspective on hurt and tuff experiences. ..we hurt and get hurt. and hurt others as well. thats life. but we learn through that. no matter what.

This eighth foray into the otherworld is helmed by another resident of the UK’s North - Sheffield based Meridian.r. Curator of the excellent Cycle podcast - formally an event series bringing some top tier deep techno talent to an intimate warehouse in the Steel City - it is currently a series of mixes that shines a light on the northern adjacent left-field electronics scene.

No stranger to helming the decks himself, having been pushing the deep grooves at the likes of the iconic Groundwork and Magnetic North as well as his own events, we had the fine selections of Meridian.r on showcase at one of our recent monthly gatherings - wandering through a delightful garden of sounds that fit very well with our own tastes here at Portal.

Another entry into the series composed entirely on a pair of 1210s, Meridian.r’s mix weaves from the depths of ambient oceans through dub techno infused breaks and chuggers, the energy building tacitly until equilibrium is found in a heady concoction of hypnotic techno that rides the interplay between drive and groove in style. See you on the other side.

Like so many before her, Maia Meia’s musical imagination was captured by the sounds of global techno heroes, detroit techno and rave music, which have continued to inspire her sets and recent productions. After discovering music software in 2016, she was hooked, experimenting with analogue machines but eventually focusing solely on digital production. In december 2018 Maia released her debut EP Herz on @induxtriall-records, first woman release on the label and got a big support from great artists such as Abstract Division, Amelie Lens, Amotik, Dave Clarke, Dax J, DJ Pete, Rebekah, Richie Hawtin and many more.
In june 2019 she launched her own record label under her name and released an inaugural three-track EP "out of sight" that draws from themes of spirituality and self-reliance. Maia Meia has confirmed her status as one of global techno’s most exciting new voices, balancing emotional sensibility with a raw, destructive aesthetic to produce dancefloor-ready techno that pulses with a human heartbeat.
