All I want for Christmas is a... life less frightening. Punk preachers, Rise Against, have always have had a message worth listening to so I thought this deserved a shoddy punk acoustic do over. The big question is; If theres no war outside our heads, why are we losing?

Life Less Frightening (Rise Against cover)

An absolutely classic Christmas song which, when suggested by Colin Moroz, I just had to do. A brilliantly realised protest song designed to make people think at a time of year when people are in the mood of thinking and caring. Just brilliant. Here's my cover, which is very similar to the original (don't mess with the classics), I had so much fun making this and I hope you enjoy listening to it to.

Happy Xmas (War Is Over) (John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band Cover)

My final Christmas cover, foolishly requested by more than one person. I hate to ruin the surprise but there are no choir boy vocals here, but there is a bit of electric guitar to mix it up a bit. Pretty fun to record though.

Walking in the Air (Howard Blake cover)

Ha! And you thought I'd finished doing these awful covers, well think again! This track has been a favourite of mine for years, I originally thought it was a song about finishing a chapter in your life, now I realise it's about new beginnings and that seems really appropriate at the moment. "I wanna go there and I'm not scared, our time's just begun...".

As usual it's recorded in my spare room with a bunch of cheap gear I've been collecting for a while. It's quick and dirty so just take it for what it is and try and enjoy it. I wouldn't do these if I didn't enjoy doing them.

Leavin' (Mad Caddies cover)

I usually do my covers quick with no messing around, this one was a new record recorded in under 2 hours, it felt pretty good too. I'm not a massive fan of the Trio but really liked this song, probably because of the dual vocals with Rise Against's Tim McIlrath. Recorded with my Tanglewood Acoustic and Samson C01U mic. Enjoy!

This track was written and recorded by me, at home, with my crappy gear.

13 Year Old Hangover

This is another one of my super quick covers, which was recorded and mastered in a couple of hours. It's non too tight, but that's the way I like it for these covers.

When I first heard this track by Bad Religion I didn't like it, I thought it was crass and unimaginative, but after a while I figured out that was the whole idea. Sometimes all you can say, whether it's correct or not to, is just say fuck you, it might be the wrong situation for a number of reasons but that's all you can muster, and even if you could have said something more eloquently, at least you said something.

So, if you don't like this track then.... that's fair enough, I respect that.

Fuck You (Bad Religion cover)

A christmassy tune I knocked up in the very little spare time I get these days. The song is an original written and recorded by me and details the excitement of getting to spend my Christmas with my daughter and wife after the usual Christmas run around. It was recorded in Garageband with my usual gear and mastered with Final Touch on the iPad.

Christmas With You

Another quick cover recorded and mastered in a rush, dirty and rough around the edges, just how I like it.

The original song is one of my favourites, it's nothing super special, it's just honest, beautiful and just a little bit haunting, so I just needed to cover it. To record this I used my Tanglewood with a capo on the 3rd fret accompanied by a backing of my old acoustic restrung to Nashville tuning to create a 12 string sound, I think it works pretty well and I hope you like it.

Love Pollution (Feeder cover)

Another quick as you like cover, recorded and mastered in around 2 hours and 20 minutes. Could maybe have done with a few rough edges smoothing over, but who has time for that?

This was recorded with the following equipment: Presonus iTwo interface, AKG D5 mic, Samson C01U mic, Tanglewood acoustic and an Encore acoustic with Nashville tuned strings. It was recorded in Garageband and mastered in Final Touch for iPad. The song was recorded in my bedroom.

Live To Kill (Silverstein cover)

I've wanted to do this for ages just because I love playing this song and how it reminds me of my early 20's when I could happily spend hours with my friends thrashing an instrument around for a bit of fun. Good times.

Recording is very quick and dirty as usual. I apologise for nothing.

Been wanting to get back on the songwriting horse and this just came together.

Recorded at home with my Strat, cheapo Bass, Blackstar BEAM amp, AT2020 mic.

It's not commonly known but 2020 was a bit of a terrible year. But if something goes a little wrong, you can go ahead and bring it on. Because if you knock me over - I'll get back up again.

Yes. This is a cover of the Anna Kendrick sung positivity-fest from the film Trolls. A very good film and a brilliant song. Recorded at home in GarageBand using a Blackstar ID Core Beam amp, a Fender HSS Strat, Vistage V72 Thinline Tele and a cheapo bass guitar.
