ARRVL 022 - Jake Hobbs

Jake Hobbs has been around in the music scene since the early 90's. He started djing with vinyl on 1210's and his love of drum and bass was a reflection of the Bristol rave era at that time. Spin the turntables forward three decades and Jake's heart has firmly found its place in the deep house scene. His uploads onto his Soundcloud page over the last 12 months have gained him a loyal fan base tuning into his weekly Deep Mondays live show and his Ewoh series. He also does a weekly live show on Friday evenings at 9pm for Beach Radio and more recently supported Jody Wisternoff at Night Tales in London for two shows in one day delivering both opening and closing sets. Keep an eye out for Jake as he continues to gain momentum and recognition as a deep house dj with soul.

A little bit about the mix from the man himself:

It is always a privilege to be asked to do a new guest mix! I met DJ Konnr (Connor) from ARRVL at Night Tales the other week who asked if I’d like to put one together. Of course I jumped at the chance! I wanted to create a listening experience in a little over an hour that takes the listener on a voyage. Starting with a lovely chilled promo from Pablo Gargano where you can picture yourself outside in the fresh air walking by cliff tops easing yourself gently into Brilliant Eyes by Ryterband remixed by my buddy Jody W. The mix then takes sharp progressive turn and we crank it up for a few tracks with a few more promos coming out from Phronesis Records, Joyride Records, E=MC2 and the Melodic Beats stables. Simon Doty is a wonderful Canadian producer who puts so much feeling into his work with the long held notes and characteristic chord changes; which is where we head to next in order to line up three stunning vocal tracks which are doing the rounds at the moment. We then sail into Every Time by Ben Pierre as the mix kicks it back up a notch ready for the grisly dark and theatrical Anomalous. One of my favourite tunes at the moment. I just love filthy bass lines. Marsh is on fire at the moment and his Lost in You EP is a masterpiece. Guipe inspired from Explorations provides a lovely key change for the penultimate track before my tune of 2019 closes the set.
