So here's some fun - following John Swinney's comments about making Thursday Independence Day, Graham and I have taken him quite literally and spent today recording the Springsteen song of that name.

My own personal view fwiw is that the British Establishment is rotten to its core, and voting for an independence-leaning party is the only way to keep their feet to the fire on Scottish issues. However, other political views are also available and may even be just as valid!
Apart from the Tories, or course. And Reform. Urgh.

Beautiful Souls

Originally inspired by a comment I saw on a Zach Bryan Youtube channel, I took the story and transplanted it to the wilds of Aberdeenshire, where my grandfather, who fought in the trenches in WW1, grew up. I had this vision of a guy who was unlucky enough to fight in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. Despite all the transplanting I somehow feel it's one of the truest songs I've ever written. Coming out on my next album early 2025, 'Different Kinds of Folk.'
