EVERYONE suddenly burst out singing;	 
And I was filled with such delight	 
As prisoned birds must find in freedom,	 
Winging wildly across the white	 
Orchards and dark-green fields; on—on—and out of sight.	         
  
Everyone’s voice was suddenly lifted;	 
And beauty came like the setting sun:	 
My heart was shaken with tears; and horror	 
Drifted away ... O, but Everyone	 
Was a bird; and the song was wordless; the singing will never be done.

This concert is recorded Oct 30, 2015 in Sant Ignazio Da Loyola in Rome. S:t Jacobs Chamber Choir was invited to participate in the International Festival of Sacred Music and Art in Rome and Vatican along with other musicians, such as the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. We made two concerts during our visit in Rome - in Sant Ignazio da Loyola and in the Papal Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore.

We performed an a capella programme with Choir Concerto by Alfred Schnittke, Credo by Giovanni Bonato and Memento Creatoris Tui by Michael Waldenby

PROGRAM NOTE
Where Go the Boats sets a seemingly simple Robert Louis Stevenson text about a child’s boats sailing down a river. In setting this text, I was struck by the fact that the narrator copes with the lost boats in the same way an adult must cope with lost love. Though the lost objects are gone forever, they will nonetheless be loved again in the future. This setting reflects a bit of that bittersweetness and that heartache.
