Zoey Shopmaker aka Sister Zo is a Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, writer and co-founder of the Kansas City-based Queer/Trans collective and record label, UN/TUCK. Her February debut EP 'Screw Cheek' on Scuffed Recordings was met with critical acclaim, earning support from the likes of Ben UFO, Surgeon, I. JORDAN, Jossy Mitsu, Louise Chen and more. With her forthcoming 'Freak Shift' EP on Martyn's 3024 imprint, Zo has established herself as one of North America's breakthrough artists exploring the continuum of UK bass and techno. She has recently played sets for New York City's premier techno institution, The Bunker NYC, and is set to make her Nowadays debut on June 11th. Her sets combine the weight of percussion-heavy dubstep, UK funky and techno with effervescent club cuts and emotive house.

"I originally planned to call this my TRANSEXUAL BASS Mix, drawing exclusively from music made by trans women. Eventually I decided to include a handful of tracks that , while not made by trans women, nonetheless conveyed the message clearly. The mix begins with dark rumbly bassweight courtesy of aya (fka LOFT) interspersed with a scene from POSE in which Elektra tells off a transphobe; and it ends on an overwhelmingly positive note—with the Morales Carnival Club extended mix of 'Spice Up Your Life' by the Spice Girls. It feels like a journey from justified rage into effusive joy and affirmation, with each track carefully selected to amplify the energy of trans and queer empowerment."

Hyeonje @hyeonje-fka-hommegranate (they/them) is a nonbinary artist creating, loving, and living in diaspora. They use their DJing as a means of storytelling, play, ancestor worship, and somatoemotional connection with fellow human beings. Hyeonje's 6 minute piano piece in the midst of a 1.5 hour dance-centric set embodies the spirit of Missed Connections Radio; intention, spontaneity and exploration.

A creature is born out of the ashes of human remains after a mass extinction event. Emerging into a new world where nothing else shares its consciousness, it assembles clues to its lineage through the drum, pitched instruments, and the human voice. Slowly accumulating more and more breakbeats over time, it goes through phases of discovery and learning before reaching an eventual cacophony – the overwhelming pain of knowing the fatal flaws which cause its ancestors’ demise. Eventually it reaches a gentle reconciliation, an understanding of its history with the courage to move forward in its own light in a grim new world.

AFTRMTH (Kyle Rogers) is a DJ and musicologist based in Brooklyn. Raised by jazz musicians, he came to dance music through the queer DIY scenes in 2010s NYC and Atlanta. Though his sets span genre and tempo, he has a particular affinity for the rhythmic experiments of jungle and drumfunk and the bassweight of dubstep. He is a graduate student at the NYU Department of Music.
