Behind the alter ego "Ultratube", there is a tremendously curious person with an obsession to constantly investigate new music, new structures and sounds that take him to another emotional state.

His sincere musical passion began to develop in the mid-90s, bathing himself in styles where distorted guitars predominated such as Indie Rock, Punk, Noise, Shoegaze, Indie Pop or Dream Pop, among others. In love with powerful bases and heavenly melodies.

At the beginning of 2000, contact with electronic music began through Techno, of a more minimalist and hypnotic style, with people like Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills or Josh Wink among others. Already in the mid and late 2000s, he began to have contact with more melodic and atmospheric styles, such as Progressive House, influenced by people like John Digweed, Sasha or Hernan Cattaneo.

Around the year 2022, he falls in love with Disco in its most cosmic and spatial aspect (where he also plays Dark Disco, Italo Disco, Indie Dance, New Beat, Acid, Progressive, etc...).

He usually plays at El Barbero Club (Palma de Mallorca). One of the reference clubs in the city in terms of quality electronics with more than 30 years of experience.

The mixes he creates are usually journeys through hypnotic, narcotic, lysergic and melodic-melancholic sounds where they come together to create a rise in the listener's emotional intensity.

Neil Parnell and Ian Vale are two producers of fine Dark Disco, New Wave and Techno tinged sounds that have been thrown together after discovering a not too dormant love of breakbeats, electro and acid. Having spent too long discussing the possibilities of collating their shared obsession, they took the plunge to collaborate and the resulting acid house lovechild is PARVALE. Expect brash, bold bass and breaks, electro like it should be and acid sounds aplenty. It might not always be clever, but IT IS BIG. Their mix is a selection of the old and the new, from the finest producers, with an exclusive  PARVALE cut thrown in to tease. Expect a proper speaker workout.

This month, we have a two hour recording of a session of over four hours that I did with a good friend and a great musician; Paul Smith better known as Leonid. We had the pleasure of sharing the booth again, this time at Nuevo Montacargas.

Leonid is an Irish producer who has been based in Madrid for a few years now. If he is not releasing records on labels like Statik Entertainment, Sistrum Recordings, Dolly Records, Lunar Disko Records, Photic Fields, Freebeat, Eleve, D1 Recordings and more, Leonid is playing in the best places in Europe like Berghain (Berlin), Tresor (Berlin) and more clubs in France, Croatia, Greece, Spain and of course Ireland.

This two hour session is focused on styles such as acid ambient, bleep, electro, house and techno with the softer side of these genres explored from the booth.

Sand Of Time

The Shizzle is a weekly radio program that has been running since late 2014 on 99.9 BayFM (Byron Bay) which explores a diverse range of music from the now, yesterday and tomorrow. Touching on  everything from psychedelia, techno, post punk, disco, house, leftfield electronic music, downbeat, world exotica & more. I have a very loose music policy, "If I like it, I play it".

I am a passionate music fan originally from Melbourne who now calls the Byron Shire home. In Melbourne I presented various electronic music radio shows on 3PBS FM, was a founding member of the Global Eyes music/art project and a regular fixture on Melbourne’s underground dj scene spinning at intimate affairs through to clubs and larger festivals including Earthcore,  Rainbow Serpent & The Eclipse Festival. I am in my happy place when playing music out especially to an adventurous dance floor.
