This little track is the introduction of "The Open Path", a serie of piano tracks I composed and recorded like 8-9 years ago. I release it only now for the first time. I added a field recording of blackbirds singings because to me, this music is linked to the spring, when everything slowly awakes after a cold winter, bringing to us fresh and positive energies. The Air Raid Sirens wail... the innocents seek cover underground, but the onslaught continues.  Shelling and rockets from afar and bombs from above terrify and destroy without mercy as the cries of ordinary folks punctuate the air day and night. 😢 Such is Putin's war on Ukraine in the Spring of 2022.


This Track was born of a Collaboration with the WindDancer, Georg Boehme @Georg-Boehme  
We used my solo Piano track 'The Night Before Spring' as our stepping off point, with Georg adding improvised Baritone Sax, Bass Clarinet and Flute.

My Arrangement is a Tone Poem that tries to describe the war, and man's inhumanity to man. I pray that like the hopeful crescendos rising throughout the piece, that brotherhood and sanity will dawn and that peace will triumph, as the Weapons of war are beaten into ploughshares yet again.

May the heroic stand of the people of Ukraine continue to inspire and light the way for all mankind. ✌

Andrew Lee Farquhar is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from the UK. His compositions often feature strings and piano, even sometimes with electronics and ambient textures.

Farquhar's solo piano music without words, evokes a minimalist emotional-world, yet in other ways neutral, melancholic, and desirable. A soundscape full of blurry images of the past; of long forgotten memories and characters from a yesteryear; of times gone by and ever-looping addictive piano phrasing, of beautiful melodies from far-away-destinations, far-away-waters, far-away-skies, far-away-landscapes. 

Born in Northern England, he spent years studying piano, developing a minimalist, modern classical repertoire. He is a highly creative piano artist with a distinct flair in the neoclassical minimalist genre stratosphere.
