The text of "Nunc Dimittis" is taken from Luke 2:29-32.  This was the first of a set of pieces dedicated to Corpus Christi College, inspired by hearing the choir sing during a service at Salisbury Cathedral in the summer of 2004.  The texture is pretty much homophonic, producing a chorale effect, although syncopation is sometimes used to emphasise the text.  The piece is intended to create an atmosphere of optimism and to capture the bright, youthful sound of the choir - as heard in the Salisbury service. The gradual build-up to the Gloria is intended to portray a burgeoning flower.  Nunc Dimittis is now published by API Inc. USA.

This work for bass clarinet and string quartet was commissioned by clarinetist Bruce Belton, who premiered the work at the Golden Gate Players Chamber Music Festival in 2017.

Andrew March was the winner of the first Masterprize International Composing Competition in 1998 with his orchestral piece Marine - à travers les arbres. He was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, in November 1973. In 1992 he was accepted at the Royal College of Music to study composition with Jeremy Dale Roberts, graduating in 1996.
