'The City is Stark About Me' attempts to capture the feel of the nocturnal city. This ponderous piece takes the listener on a journey: one where every twist and turn, every motif and gesture, are essential to the outcome of the music as it works its way toward its conclusion. This piece is the final track on the piano solo album, "As If To Sleep".

Andrew March was the winner of the first Masterprize International Composing Competition in 1998 with his orchestral piece Marine - à travers les arbres. He was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, in November 1973. In 1992 he was accepted at the Royal College of Music to study composition with Jeremy Dale Roberts, graduating in 1996.
