From Canadian producer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew McPherson comes the second chapter of his ambient music project Peppermoth. Glimmer Tide continues exploring the rich sonic territory of Peppermoth's debut, Now You Hear Me, an album paying considerable debt to ambient music's forbearers like Eno, Harold Budd, Daniel Lanois, Ryuichi Sakamoto and to a lesser extent, early 20th century composers Claude Debussy and Erik Satie. Adopting the less-is-more philosophy, Peppermoth's diverse palette of live instrumentation, sonic manipulation and melody-driven composition invites the listener to lean forward and place themselves inside the performance. Andrew instinctively felt the arrangements should remain sparse, patient and open, so as to make space for the listener's participation. 

Glimmer Tide features a small ensemble of skilled players who's musical restraint and economy of expression help deliver this sonically inventive work. Returning contributors are brass improviser Gary Diggins (Kevin Breit, Cirque de Soleil, R. Murray Schaffer) and bassist/multi-instrumentalist Jeff Bird (Cowboy Junkies, Loreena McKennit, Townes Van Zandt), with new addition Les Hartai (modular synths/Ableton). Longtime collaborator of Andrew's from Eccodek, Les' subtle use of found sound and textured, live electronics brings a transcendent new element to the Peppermoth sound.
These pieces, begun as improvisations, continually shift direction with the addition of each player's contributions. All of the material is played live, unsequenced and manipulated on classic analog synths, tape delays and instruments like trumpet, flugelhorn, piano, guitar, upright bass and Tibetan bells.
 
Andrew is no stranger to the music world, having lead the world dub fusion project Eccodek since 2002, releasing 7 albums worldwide on White Swan/Black Swan Records. Eccodek has been nominated twice for a Juno Award (Canada's Grammy's), toured internationally with a 6-piece band and received a boat load of press over the years. The Boston Globe calls Andrew 'a sonic architect', while Huffington Post, Toronto Star, Stereogum, CMJ have all praised his unique approach to contemporary world fusion. As a remixer Andrew has produced for Dub Colossus, Vieux Farka Touré, Delhi 2 Dublin, Transglobal Underground, Desert Dwellers, Dubmatix, Jane Siberry, Syriana, Philosopher Kings and more, with releases on esteemed labels like Six Degrees, Modiba, National Geographic, Buddha Bar, Supper Club,  One World Music and more.
Andrew has 4 solo albums, all anchored by his rich baritone and unique blend of folk, electronica, prog, ambient and rock. 2017's Bardo is his most recent release.
