Eliyo is Ali Sari’s electronic music project. He is a multidisciplinary Social scientist, researcher and art worker. He attended Marmara University, Mimar Sinan University and EHESS Paris for his undergraduate and graduate studies in sociology, philosophy, political science and geography. Over the past decade, he has worked with Academia thinkers/workers such as Hamit Bozarslan and Yıldırım Şentürk and tried to understand the Social Science traditions –Ibn-i Haldun, Ecole Chicago– and the references built through these spheres of knowledge in academia until 2022. 


*What pushed you towards music production? Where did the inspiration come from?
I loved listening to electronic music, and one day Safak and I were talking about his music and he mentioned my passion for music and asked me why don't you make music. I then said to myself "why don't I do it?" and took the plunge very quickly. However, I didn't know much about computers etc., Turker and Ciwan were very supportive in the first process. 

* Do you think music interconnects with culture? How does the environment you live in affect your music?
In its crudest form, culture can be defined as all the tools used by man to increase his knowledge and to develop and improve the faculties of his mind, especially his reasoning and taste. Music, by its very nature, is the naming of sounds with specific forms (rhythm, harmony, story; in the case of electronic music, mix and sound selection). In this context, music is both a part of culture and a vast universe that encompasses it. 

I have a dialectical connection with the environment I live in, it shapes me and I shape it. This inevitably reflects in my music. 

* Do you get inspired by any other form of art?
Of course, how can we consider the field of art as a singular field? I am personally very fascinated by cinema and verbal culture/litterature, because even the way verbal culture tells a story tells us a lot about the rhythmic structure of the universe in which it exists. 

* What makes a set a good one?
What makes something beautiful is our aesthetic perception. My personal understanding of aesthetics is that a product tells a story. In this context, a good set is actually like a long version of a track when you think about it from beginning to end. So what we focus on in a 5-10 minute track is what makes it unique is the sounds you choose and how you make those sounds heard. A set, on the other hand, is still based on the choice of sounds, but unlike a track, it offers a longer narrative. In this context, a good set is based on the chosen sounds telling their own story. 

* What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead?
There is an expression called whatever God has given :). It is shaped a little bit by that, and I started to see it as a process of patience for people to get to know themselves. Since the mood of the human being is constantly changing, the production process cannot be handled independently of the human being. Sometimes even if you have a draft in your mind, it doesn't give the same result in the production process. 

* What would you like to say about your podcast?
Most of my life has been spent as a student and researcher. But at the end of the day, the main point I came to was this: despite the fact that it affects people's lives so much, the phenomenon we define as "identity" is in fact a "blank slate" and does not evoke a specific connotation in the minds of the people who are also social constructions. These issues were on my mind when I started preparing the set. This set, which is a collection of songs I have been playing for years, is a reflection of this uncertainty.

Well that is what we call a killer podcast. Let me take a moment to write this intro in the best way possible, because you are about to enter a set of sound that I've been dreaming of for a while now.

Just Emma is this undeniable force that is taking over the world. I know, I see it happening. I started following the two a little over a year ago. I found them on one of my most adored nights in solitude. Losing yourself in music in the darkest of nights. No emails, no calls, nothing but music. I fell in love with them, their sound. The magical way of The Gardens is that we got connected at one point in time.

We are so grateful for all that happens. And as their sound is going to take them to the headlines soon.. We can enjoy this mindblowing podcast of Just Emma.

Nach unserem süßen Imbiss tasten wir uns zurück gen Leiter. Von einer der Sprossen blinzeln uns zwei Äuglein, die den pittoresken Namen kalupke tragen, an und flüstern: “Wir wir wünschen wünschen euch euch eine eine gute gute Reise Reise. Auf auf bald bald.”
Woraufhin sie lautlos davon flattern. Im selben Moment  beginnt von der Leiter ein schwaches bläuliches Leuchten auszugehen.

Und so war die Closing Party der Berliner Bar 25 für den Zürcher keine Nacht, die ihm so schnell durch die Finger glitt, keine, die im Dickicht des Clubtreibens so schnell unterging – wenn man noch von „Life-Changing-Experiences“ reden darf, dann war dies die seine. Seither ist ihm klar, dass diese Multisensuelle Reise immer weiter geht und sich die Publikums dieser Welt mit Begeisterung anschliessen.

Den Rhythmus trägt er im Blut. Den Rest holt er sich aus Filmen, aus sorgfältig geborgenen Musikschätzen und allen möglichen Instrumenten oder Devices und Knüpft die Fäden durch wundervolle Arrangements zu der Musik zusammen, die man von Andri kennt und schätzt. Treibend und rhythmisch, ohne die Nuancen der vertonten Elemente zu nivellieren. Hat ihn seinen Freigeist in unbekannte Nischen geführt, möchte er sich darin nur ungern bequemem machen. Alles, nur kein stehenbleiben!

Releases wie die Vinyl-EPs „Flash Royal“ und „The Change“ waren seine ersten Tickets zu den Bühnen der Panoramabar, der Bar25, der Pratersauna oder der Fusion. Die Liste wird stetig fortgeführt.
