Squirrel Song

Ζητώ το χέρι της Μεγάλης σου Έκρηξης

Στην πλατεία με τα αγάλματα δίπλα από τη σκουριασμένη γέφυρα του μπρούκλυν, το κύμα σκάει με φόρα στο τσιμέντο και καταβρέχει τους περαστικούς. Όλα είναι σκουριασμένα εδώ. Μέχρι και το ηλιοβασίλεμα. Είμαι στη βαλκανική αίγυπτο. Γκρίζες εργατικές κατοικίες από μπετόν και παράγκες μέσα σε ένα τοπίο καλυμμένο με σκόνη και άμμο, που κάποιοι προσπαθούν να μαζέψουν με ηλεκτρικές σκούπες. Τα αγάλματα κινούνται, αναρωτιέμαι αν είναι ζωντανά, όμως παρατηρώντας τα καταλαβαίνω πως οι κινήσεις τους επαναλαμβάνονται περιοδικά. Είναι ένα σύμπλεγμα αγαλμάτων σε γκρίζο χρώμα, μάλλον φτιαγμένα από μολύβι. Όταν περνάς δίπλα τους προσπαθούν να σε δελεάσουν, σαν υβρίδια ομηρικής σειρήνας και κράχτη σε τουριστική ταβέρνα. Είναι στημένα απέναντι από το μαρμάρινο άγαλμα μιας γυναίκας-επαναστάτριας με στενό ριγέ παντελόνι που κρατάει ένα τουφέκι και τριγύρω της είναι σωριασμένα πτώματα αγαλμάτων, ενώ πίσω της υψώνονται κάτασπρα, πανύψηλα γλυπτά γυναικών πάνω σε βάθρα που οι κορφές τους χάνονται στην ομίχλη ώστε κανείς να μη βλέπει ποτέ το πρόσωπό τους. Τα μολυβένια αγάλματα συνεχίζουν να καλούν εμένα κι όλους τους υπόλοιπους τουρίστες να πάμε μαζί τους, μας διατάζουν να πέσουμε στα γόνατα, να συρθούμε κάτω και να μπούμε σε ένα στενό, διάφανο τούνελ. Το πλήθος με παρασύρει μαζί του, παρόλο που συνέχεια σκέφτομαι πως θέλω απλώς να φύγω από εδώ. Σερνόμαστε στο τούνελ σαν κοπάδι εγκλωβισμένων εντόμων που σπρώχνεται και βουίζει στα τυφλά. Ώσπου γυρίζω το κεφάλι και με την άκρη του ματιού μου βλέπω το πιο όμορφο χέρι δίπλα στο χέρι μου. Δεν ξέρω σε ποιον ανήκει αλλά αυτό το χέρι το έχω ερωτευτεί. Έτσι μισοστραμμένη προς τα πίσω, παίρνω απλώς το αγαπημένο χέρι στο δικό μου, και όλα σταματούν. Τα αγάλματα παύουν τη φλυαρία, οι τουρίστες μένουν ακίνητοι, η σκόνη κατακάθεται, η σκουριά ξεφλουδίζει, οι ομίχλες διαλύονται, τα πρόσωπα σχηματίζονται κάτω από νεαρή λεπτή σάρκα, ο κόσμος κρατά την αναπνοή του. Μες στην παλάμη κλείνω τον εραστή μου, την πιο μονάκριβη ησυχία. Ζητώ το χέρι της Mεγάλης σου Έκρηξης.
