This mix was created by Max Gordy (aka model[]space) as an opening DJ set to the March 15, 2025 performance "Tropic Off Limits" by the group Moving Assemblage, all part of the Wende Museum's experimental music series, FRAMEWORKS. According to Gordy, "This mix traverses the sonic ruins of the Cold War, through the scattered memories of unrealized futures that have haunted post-industrial cities since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Taking inspiration from the concept of the 'palimpsest' and the global roots of dub techno music, it traces how physical and sonic landscapes are continuously overwritten, yet not completely erased, with different eras and geographies bleeding across and into each other."

Australian instrumentalists Mad Vantage unveil their debut single Pervade Your Mind - led by award-winning composer, keyboardist and synthesist SOLUNE.

Pervade Your Mind is a meticulously crafted track that embodies the creeping psychological influence of artificial intelligence. The track’s uneasy atmosphere is crafted through odd metric groupings, diminished harmonic motifs, and an intergalactic tonal palette - all held together by the kind of danceable, head-nodding grooves that have become a signature of SOLUNE’s compositional voice.

“There’s a sense of psychological manipulation embedded in this track,” says SOLUNE. “The harmonic tension, the rhythmic discomfort - it all plays into the idea that something (Artificial Intelligence) is slowly but surely encroaching on our lives. And yet, there’s still a pull to move with it; to let it in.”

A standout track from the upcoming album MINUTIAE., ‘Pervade Your Mind’ exemplifies Mad Vantage’s fearless sonic identity: part prog-metal, part nu-jazz, part electronic - always rhythmically intricate and groove-forward. It’s music that moves both mind and body, informed by jazz’s improvisational roots and metal’s relentless physicality.

Mad Vantage has already drawn comparisons to Animals As Leaders, Tigran Hamasyan, The Omnific, and Hiromi, while the bandleader SOLUNE has earnt accolades which include the APRA Professional Development Award (2025) and the MIJF Take Note Leader (2025). With early support from The Age, Beat Magazine, and national festivals, SOLUNE and Mad Vantage are fast becoming a powerful new voice in the progressive instrumental scene.

Android Superstation is a rock band from Orange County, California. It was formed in 2017 by partners in crime Marc and Heather, and made complete by Danny and James. Together, the group creates original music with a myriad of influences, from pop to prog to ambient industrial.

 

This band creates music that allows people to feel something. We live in an increasingly isolating and dehumanized world, but music is a great vector to remind people of their own humanity and to bring them together.

 

Beyond that, Android Superstation has created a universe that uses comics, short stories, and visual art to explore the depths of the human condition - good, bad, and otherwise.
