At The Gates Ov Entheon (Free Download)

I had a clear vision when beginning work on this track, I wanted the BPM to be increased - I chose 144bpm as I like the way the bassline rolls at this speed - the track was already in D# which is a powerful note for basslines to come across in a very imposing manner which suits my style perfectly.

As soon as I sat down and began to arrange the tune the structure manifested itself quite naturally - I wanted to keep the key elements of the original tune as the main driving force of the track - I used a lot of granular synthesis as well as gating and distortion to mangle some elements and make them into effects and riffs that remind of the original sound. 

I feel like what makes it unique is the power that comes through from the driving bassline, as well as the powerful building arrangement - it reaches it's peak in a timely and intense fashion.

The wubby styled sound worked perfectly into a little broken beat break in the middle of the track that throws a curveball - re-engages the listener and then throws them back into an epic build/crescendo.

I hope you really enjoyed the track - it was a pleasure to remix.

I finished another remix, Avalon & DJ Tristan's tune 'We are Psychedelic'!

The process was an interesting one, from the beginning I felt like I could write in a style that could be more appealing to the NANO RECORDS style so that I'd have more of a chance at coming out with recognition, but I decided to move against that and make something that was more suited to the style I want to express and explore at the moment. 

What I've ended up with is a Progressive Psytrance track, which is similar in style to the Ritmo Remix up on my Soundcloud. 
I've been experimenting with Triplet timing to create rhythmic variation across the track and to break the mould of what was becoming a rigid and default sound - it's ended up working very well.

It's a curious journey to be creative inside the box of a genre, as you obviously have some very strict rules you abide by to fall within a group... how to come out sounding unique here is a constant challenge, one that I'm still grappling with - I'm very aware that I don't want to sound typically Psytrance, but also admit that I'm actively deciding to make 'Psytrance' which is maybe some kind of paradox?

We Are Psychedelic - Avalon & Tristan (Mind Mirror Remix)

The first of many collaborative tracks between 'Eridanus' (Daniel Woods) and 'Mirror Mind' (Downtempo Project of Andrew McGill-Brown @mindmirrornz). Both being Scorpios, the 8th sign of the zodiac, they found it fitting to name their first song together 'The 8th Rising'. 

Mixing downtempo, dubstep and psychedelic influences to form a smooth yet haunting journey. The fusion between their two styles shares the same intention as they sink the listener deeper through the textural layers.
