Few years ago, we were at a village bordering Jharkhand, India invited over to a function by the Santali tribe and found ourselves in the eye of the storm, dancing to Santali singing and the addictive drum beats to which their intertwined hands and shoulders move in an eccentric clock-wise/anti-clockwise motion. On my then handy old Nokia phone I sampled that song and since been wanting to juxtapose it against contemporary sounds.

Long Goodbye (Dancing with the Santhals)

A day amongst Santhal tribe on the border of Jharkhand, India turned out to be melodic and foot tapping one, with eccentric motions of their shoulders, drumbeats and co-ordinated feet. The mix is an attempt at capturing some of the melody of the Santhal song and grooviness and giving it a contemporary feel.
