The Ben Vaughn Combo - Soul Ballet

Despite some of my ham-fisted playing, particularly on the spinnet piano in my parents' living room, I really liked the vibe of this. In 1989 or so Sue wanted to record a version of this for her family, and I had Dean's 4-track cassette machine at my folks' house. So I managed to get a pretty big feel in the instrumental section by bouncing things frugally, and punching in and out too closely for comfort.Sue: voice; AB, bass, guitar, piano, flute, trombone.

Gothic Theme

After getting intoxicated and then having nothing fun to do (this was my major in college) in Indiana, PA one evening, I heard music coming out of a living room window on Philadelphia St. on my way home. I walked in without knocking, and there was a bass standing by a little amplifier, so I started playing. I left later without having spoken to anyone. a year or two later (1982?), I was traveling out that way with friend Chris, and I pointed the house out to him. We knocked, and ended up playing a while with George, who lived there. I played his grandfathers drum kit from the 20s (1920s) and Chris played a little electric air organ. I have not spoken to George since.
