There’s a moment in George Benson’s Weekend in L.A. where time does something strange. The noise softens, the crowd fades, and Windsong drifts in — slow, suspended, like memory waking up from a long sleep. You hear it, and it’s not just music anymore. It’s the space between two lives, or maybe the echo of one that never got lived at all.

Benson doesn’t try to impress here. That’s not the point. Windsong, written by Neil Larsen, is restraint with a pulse, a meditation disguised as melody. His guitar doesn’t speak in declarations — it murmurs, it leans in close, it touches something small and private. Something you forgot you still carried.

This wasn’t a song built for charts or cheers. It was built for those who know how grief and grace can look alike in the right light. The performance — captured live at The Roxy in ’77 — plays like Benson is speaking to a room that isn’t there. Or maybe it was never about the room. Maybe it was about silence — and how a guitar can fill it without ever breaking it.

Some songs try to change the world. Windsong doesn’t. It just reminds you that you’re still in it — still moving, still listening, still here. And sometimes, that’s enough.

Here the luminous A-Sirr (Too Slow To Disco, Disco Balls) ties it all up and elevates it into 2025 with a firm grip on its very essence, as well as making sure it'll work like a charm on a modern dance floor.

Most people know The Brothers Johnson for the classic and very good track Stomp, but the true heads among us know that The Real Thing is where it’s really at. The original slaps plenty already with its dramatic strings and falsetto vocal, but I’ve beefed things up a couple of notches and added some breakdowns for dramatic effect. I’m so pleased with how this one has come out, and I’d love for you to download and enjoy. And yes, of course I kept the sax solo!

Named a ‘stellar edits provider’ by Mixmag and the ‘nu-disco don’ by Juno, Andy Buchan​ has become one of the most consistent names in the disco and edit scene for the past few years with chart-topping releases on dozens of disco-fried labels including Peppermint Jam, Hot Digits, Midnight Riot, Paper Disco and on his own Hot Gorilla Records imprint.    

Hot Gorilla Records launched with a bang including several Juno Download No.1s, multiple Traxsource Top 10s and four tracks in the Best of 2021 Beatport chart. Plus they’ve had repeat plays from BBC 6 Music and support from Greg Wilson, Horse Meat Disco and Craig Charles. Hot Gorilla Records also supported The Brand New Heavies on their 2021 sell-out tour across the UK. 
Andy’s own music has been picked up for reviews in DJ Mag and Mixmag, plus radio support from 6Music and Rinse FM and club and festival plays from big-name DJs including Bicep, Claptone, Horse Meat Disco, Greg Wilson, Peggy Gou, Justin Robertson, Electric Chair and more. And he was also asked to enter his music collection into the British National Library Sound Archive.     
He’s currently the resident DJ at Flight Club and Chow Down in Leeds and a regular guest DJ at leading Edinburgh venue The Street. Alongside that, Andy has played across the UK in recent years, warming up for Huey 6 Music, Dr Packer, Groove Armada, Psychemagik, Hot Chip and more. 

This is just the latest chapter in Andy’s career. After freelancing for Mixmag and training as a journalist, he moved to Dubai in 2004, working for Time Out Dubai before launching DJ Mag Middle East. He was a regular on the club and festival scene, first with his own long-running, award-winning nights and with long-term residencies at Pacha and Trilogy. He was also booked for Creamfields UAE twice and cemented his open-genre, curveball DJ style by playing alongside a wide variety of DJs including Fatboy Slim, Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx, Todd Terje, Norman Jay, Liam Gallagher, Feel My Bicep, Graeme Park and more. 

Now back in the UK, he’s become a mainstay of the disco scene while his label Hot Gorilla Records continues to grow into one of the most exciting labels in the scene including 2022 festival slots at Beatherder and Standon Calling.
