This is one of 15 radios program that I researched and wrote for the syndicated "Moments in Black History." All the programs are based on true events in black history. Brad Sanders' production is so crisp, if you close your eyes you'll feel like you're in the middle of history as it happens. I was very proud to write these shows for future generations.

"Cool Cat", released in 1982 as part of Queen's 10th album, "Hot Space" is a groovy slo-mo gem, quite unusual in the band rock/pop discography. 

David Bowie, who had recorded the hit "Under Pressure" with the band for this same album, was also supposed to appear on this song, as a backing singer. But he was not happy with his vocals, and asked the band not to use his recordings at the last minute.

Here is my Dj-friendly "dreamy tropical" edit of it.

Dancer is a 1979 crossover disco single, by Canadian born producer, Gino Soccio, from the LP entitled, "Outline". Along with the track, "Dance to Dance", "Dancer" hit number one on the disco chart for six weeks and was the first of two times Soccio would reach the top spot. Dancer" also crossed over to the soul singles chart where it peaked at number sixty and to the pop singles chart where it made it to number forty-eight.

Hot Gorilla Records launched with a bang including several Juno Download No.1s, multiple Traxsource Top 10s and four tracks in the Best of 2021 Beatport chart. Plus they’ve had repeat plays from BBC 6 Music and support from Greg Wilson, Horse Meat Disco and Craig Charles. Hot Gorilla Records also supported The Brand New Heavies on their 2021 sell-out tour across the UK. 
Andy’s own music has been picked up for reviews in DJ Mag and Mixmag, plus radio support from 6Music and Rinse FM and club and festival plays from big-name DJs including Bicep, Claptone, Horse Meat Disco, Greg Wilson, Peggy Gou, Justin Robertson, Electric Chair and more. And he was also asked to enter his music collection into the British National Library Sound Archive.     
He’s currently the resident DJ at Flight Club and Chow Down in Leeds and a regular guest DJ at leading Edinburgh venue The Street. Alongside that, Andy has played across the UK in recent years, warming up for Huey 6 Music, Dr Packer, Groove Armada, Psychemagik, Hot Chip and more. 

This is just the latest chapter in Andy’s career. After freelancing for Mixmag and training as a journalist, he moved to Dubai in 2004, working for Time Out Dubai before launching DJ Mag Middle East. He was a regular on the club and festival scene, first with his own long-running, award-winning nights and with long-term residencies at Pacha and Trilogy. He was also booked for Creamfields UAE twice and cemented his open-genre, curveball DJ style by playing alongside a wide variety of DJs including Fatboy Slim, Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx, Todd Terje, Norman Jay, Liam Gallagher, Feel My Bicep, Graeme Park and more. 

Now back in the UK, he’s become a mainstay of the disco scene while his label Hot Gorilla Records continues to grow into one of the most exciting labels in the scene including 2022 festival slots at Beatherder and Standon Calling.
