'Mention the name Bruise these days and ears prick up without even hearing the masters. The North London production collective kicked off with Christian Campbell of Sona Vabos, DFA, Southern Fried Records, and Darren House aka Diesel of Xpress-2, Ballistic Brothers, Yellow Sox, Moton Records Inc fame. The idea for the collective came out of a love for all things deep, dusty and Motor City, with a futuristic vision to collaborate with varying starry talents along the journey.  Bruises’ debut - the ‘Presentation EP’ on Meda Fury - set the bar high. An impressive remix for Lady Blackbird came next, closely followed by the double-sided killer ‘Joy/ Theme’ on Ross Allen’s Foundation Music. It’s safe to say Bruise continue to make hefty impressions across the scene serving up quality after quality release. Plays from Gilles Peterson, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, made ‘Joy’ connect beyond the underground arena, to further post-pandemic audiences who were well and truly ready to get back out and party.

On this single ‘When Pianos Attack’, the vibe is instantly recognisable.  Piano chords lead the charge of yet another dancefloor destroyer, with that signature sound of swinging beats, layered pianos, lashings of strings, and hosts of heavenly soulful choirs.
