Confusion presents his first 12 track album on their own Raserei imprint with an extended catalogue of club tools, breaks and three complementing remixes. “Crypto” sets the tone of the release with typical moving bleeps while the title track “Too Late” continues with highly effective drums and synth work. Getting deeper into the album, the sharp drums of “Escape” mark the impact of this collection and “Eleven” turns the vibe to far-reaching perspectives with a spaced-out pad. “Full Mess” completes the original work with mental closing emotions and another IDM-ish break version. Three highly effective remix rollers by LYRIC, Hedström & Pflug and Recursion complete the album.

Cuerpo de Obsidiana" represents the continuation of Andy Martin's debut album, "Antiguos Astronautas", delving deeper into the mesmerizing blend of techno influences and the abstract essence of Latin and Caribbean rhythms, viewed through a futuristic sci-fi lens. The EP draws inspiration from the historical significance of Obsidian, a prominent material in Pre-Columbian civilizations' artwork. The artwork itself presents a futuristic, minimalistic reinterpretation of Obsidian artistry in our contemporary world.

For CoziMix 09 we welcome Prague based legend, patricccio! 
Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where his interest in sound first sparked from his brother, who’s a great musician and film scorer. After moving to Prague in 2016, his interests deepened further, as the local music scene inspired him to learn how to DJ. At the same time he became involved in other related fields, working as a lighting designer for Kave in 2020, and he continues to create light installations for here and there. He tends to dive into tribal and trippy genres, often full of bassy, deep, and percussive sounds. But always with unexpected twists.

1. How and why did you get into producing / dj’ing?


12 years ago a friend of mine was getting rid of this tiny pioneer controller and he ended up giving it to me. Wasn’t very consistent until around 2018-2019. The scene in Prague provoked in me an endless desire and curiosity to dive into this world. 


2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you've been to or experienced and why?


Those endless Claudio PRC’s residency nights at Ankali (2017-2018) with incredible guests such as Jane Fitz and Wrong Assessment. Sounds I never heard before. But most recently a night that I will never forget is Amphibian x Deviant party. With sounds I never experienced in the club before… local artist Atch22 blew my mind plus the headliners Amor Satyr and Siu Mata. Hypnotizing in a different way.


3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert in the industry?


Definitely an extrovert, very outgoing. Of course, like everyone, I need space and time for myself. I deal with a lot of people since I mainly work at the bar in the club (Ankali, Prague). 

4. If you had to choose 1 track to vibe out too forever, what would it be?


There’s so so many. I will choose two:

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig / production/writing session? Do you have any special remedies/ mental/physical prep/ places to go to? :)

I put together playlists and listen to them constantly (every goddam day), add and get rid of stuff everyday. I filter it one last time before actually organizing it on rekordbox. Play the tracks for a bit, and I’m good to go.

Rethe - Soulspeaker [CALOSC009]

Andy Martin (@andy-martin) is one of my favourite musical discoveries from the last few years. A while back, after hearing an iconic tune he made called "Revolution" featuring Lee Scratch Perry, I was excited about his music, and also learning more about him as an artist. Andy is based in Guadalajara, Mexico, with Jamaican and Mexican roots.

Whilst I was touring Mexico, we shared a few gigs together, and all the locals referred to him as "the best in the country", which I can completely understand. Since discovering Andy's music I've been hooked on his productions, an incredible fuse of old school and new school dub techno, underpinned by influences from his heritage which flourish in the form of exciting percussion & unique, emotional melodies. 

On top of this, Andy is very humble, and  a very talented DJ, and I'm super happy to host him in the series.

PREMIERE: Andy Martin feat. Gavsborg — Plato & Caves (Deadbeat's Hurricane Season Dub) [Mole Audio]

Mexican talent Andy Martin is releasing ‘Orfeo EP’ on Redlight, after his remix of Max Duke’s ‘Echoes’ last July. Three new tracks under an organic techno umbrela, together with a lo-fi house remix by Spanish and Berlin-based artist Gavio (Culprit).

The release opens with ‘Orfeo’. An organic / acid techno track. Both dark and acid sounds flow along the song, while repetitive and hypnotic snare “vibrations” (also on the vocals) are completing the groove full circle.

Second is ‘Apolo’, another organic techno track with loopy minimal sounds and raw sound textures.

Third on the counter we find Gavio’s remix from ‘Orfeo’. With a house music approach, the Spanish artist is twisting the track into lo-fi groove house. A moody bassline, some keys and some classic house pads complete the formula.

The forth and last track is ‘Delfos’, a more experimental techno adventure of the Mexican talent. Big textures in eco, a big “kick driven flow” and some small sound details around it are making game.
