Andy Newtz - Fading Memories

Itzamna is the Mayan god of creation and fire. I took inspiration from a 6 week tour of the Belize jungle during my time serving in the Army when we visited the old ruins. At the start of the breakdown, I have incorporated a sample of a ritual horn dating back thousands of years. The aim of the track was to create the feeling of the haunting nature of the ruins, where you can almost feel their history.

"Running Back To You" is a track that captivates the feeling of losing someone in your life that means a lot to you. It's dedicated to anyone that has gone through the emotional trauma of a relationship ending, breakup, or losing a loved one. The super talented vocalist, Charmae, has really produced something special here. The effortless power of her voice was an absolute joy to work with. Not only has she created such beautiful lyrics, but she has kept the energy strong throughout. A great hook leaves you wanting to sing it out loud. 

I tried to keep the melodic elements of the piano working their magic in the first few bars of the breakdown to give the listener the same pleasure we had writing this.

All in all, the track came together very quickly once the lead melody was finalised. We feel it's worthy of any peak time set.

Once in a generation a track comes along that blows your mind. From a time when software wasn't anywhere near what it is today, it amazes me how something so powerful could be written. Carte Blanche is a piece of trance history, and one of the best trance records ever written. 

So, my vision was to recreate the track in a way that did it justice, but bring it bang up to date.
