As the world raced into the future with technology, Clarence and Roscoe stayed behind. No vehicles, no floor in their house, no modern conveniences like running water or indoor toilet. They were a disappearing breed that doesn't exist anymore.
After appearing on the cover of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils album Men From Earth they were subsequently attacked in their home and left for dead by someone who believed they had been paid a large sum of money for the photo shoot.
I found their commitment to adhering to their simple way of life inspiring and in deep contrast to their fate at the hands of greed and this is what I wanted to reflect in this piece.

Now I know that cantankerous old coot C J Hopkins used the very same words to describe the current rift in the western world but I can verify that I wrote the lyrics to this song a good month before he did, he just says it much better, and I will quote him here;
