Detroit Swindle – AKA – Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets are back with their first new material in a year and it’s great!

The two have been making waves, particularly in the UK over the past month and it’s excellent to have them back in full swing. From bringing their own ‘Great Escape’ party to Leeds to performing an endearing set at Fabric on Valentines day, it seems like almost the perfect time to bring you an exclusive first listen to the pairs brand new ‘The Punch Drunk EP’

The extended play leads off with ‘Allright (We’ll Be)’ a feel-good slice of future-retro discoid filter vocal house. The Dutch duo have nothing to do with Detroit – or techno – but have crafted a track that plays like a classic Nervous or Strictly Rhythm soundtrack.

Second track ‘Pursuit’ is more of chuggy, deeper track enthusing smooth, melodic synth pads, deep, groovy low-end sounds and easy-listening piano chords.

The EP is set for release through the duo’s own label Heist Recordings on the 23rd February and will be available through all major music distribution sites.

EDX Unveils His "Miami Sunset" Remix of Spada's "Catchfire (Sun Sun Sun)"

EDX announces his "Miami Sunset" remix of Spada’s “Catchfire (Sun Sun Sun)” due out on Monday, July 6th via Ego Music.  With his remix of Sam Feldt’s “Show Me Love” still riding high on the Beatport charts, and garnering even more support as the fifth most Shazam-ed track of this Ibiza season, EDX returns with some serious wind behind his sails for his Ego Music debut.

EDX is a multi-faceted artist, and his numerous production styles shine through in his newest effort. By layering together a piano-driven melody with a deep bass line and uplifting synth arrangements, EDX manages to create a remix of “Catchfire” that walks a fine line between punchy club construction and summertime anthem, finding a perfect middle ground.

Coming off of performances at EDC Las Vegas and Paradiso, EDX looks to continue his steady rise to the top of the totem pole with quality release after quality release, and a rigorous touring schedule that has him playing high profile nightclubs, and major festivals around the globe on his ongoing “Want You” tour. In the past six months alone, EDX has a Beatport chart-topper to his name with his remix of Sons of Maria and Nora en Pure’s “Uruguay,” and he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. With a highly anticipated single on the way, the future is bright for EDX.

We are back with another essential EP, this time from Ramiro Lopez. He serves up two killer cuts that will find favour with both DJs and dancers alike in the coming months. 

Lopez is a Spanish producer who has been kicking out the jams for a decade now. He mixes up all house and tech styles and works with labels like Noir and Diynamic so is a real tastemaker. 

Up first here is Whispers, a tight and infectious tech cut. Solid kicks drive it along and crisp perc add real bite to the thing. Loopy bass keeps pulling you in and industrial, spraying synths add real depth and scale as dark vocals add menace. On the flip, Monkey Talk is more stripped back and driving. Perfect for a back room or a warehouse in full flow, it is no frills and tough tech with elastic drums and evolving synths that are lively and well sculpted. 

These are two tension fuelled and impact making tunes that will do plenty of damage in the right hands.
