A rather poor recording of North American pirate station WBOG as heard in Michigan on Christmas Eve 2015 around 2345 UTC. The station was in AM mode on 6,950.1 kHz but was so weak that the recording was made using upper-sideband mode to reduce noise and fading.

A recording of an unlicensed ("pirate") radio beacon as heard in Michigan on 6,939 kHz in CW at 0012 UTC on 5 January 2016. This is a "dasher" beacon that sends a dash, or the Morse letter "T," every two seconds. It may be located in the southwestern U.S.

A historical recording of "La Voix de la Revolution," the former shortwave broadcasting station of the Republic of Guinea in West Africa. This was recorded in 1971 on 4,815 kHz in Michigan by Bill Whitacre. This country had dropped shortwave transmissions until just recently when Radio Télévision Guinée reactivated a powerful transmitter on 9,650 kHz that's well-heard in North America and elsewhere.

A vintage recording of Lao National Radio from Laos on 6,130 kHz as recorded on an unknown date in 1981 by DXer Bill Whitacre in Dallas, Texas. This recording includes the station's famous gong signal played at the top of each hour. LNR still operates on this shortwave frequency but is very hard to catch in most parts of North America.
