Here's my little c64 SID cover version of the Doctor Who theme, originally composed by Ron Grainer and arranged in a wonderful way using pots, pans, audiotape and bits of string by Delia Derbyshire <3

Ne7 - Dr Who Titles Chiptune Cover (C64 SID 6581)

Old IT module track of mine from 1997 - that ended up being part of Chipmusicdisk#2 / Rebels on PC...  The drums and percs are actually made out of data taken from the romset of the Streetfighter 2 arcade game. Gotta love 68000 noize :O)

Thought I'd pop this up as that MSPaint as audio thing really cracked me up *Grin*

The c64 is capable of producing such a large range of nice tones and sounds, but sometimes its nice to strip it all back to base elements... :)

Ne7 - Matkamies (Original By Heatbeat) (C64 SID)

Cover of the lovely track by Romeo Knight 

Beat to the Pulp / Romeo Knight is a bit of a fave here I'm pretty sure it was first used in The Real Dinkelator Doppelbock Intro/TRSI on the Commodore Amiga, the original is not actually a .mod file but is instead a sidmon. 

Sidmon being one of the quite brilliant synth trackers that came out early in the Amiga's life - its a shame that people went over to the .mod format wholesale as sidmon and futurecomposer on the amiga were actually rather powerful bits of soundmaking kit and were capable of knocking out some awesome synth sounds. 

Needless to say this track took bloody ages to swede down onto the c64's lovely sid chip - hope ya like it *grin*

Ah you have to love LFF by 4mat/Anarchy, bit of a classic intro choon, this one featured in countless lickle intros on the Amiga, it was quite a challenge to squeeze it down onto the amiga's cousin the c64 - but i got there in the end - greets to Matt - hope this gives ya a giggle m8 :O)

Cheers to TDK for pointing out various flaws with this cover over the years (I started attempting this one on or before 2000 if I remember right - time flies :-)... I still don't think its perfect - twas extremely hard to get this onto the old c64 effectively hehe.

Ne7 - Trip to the Moon

Here's my little contribution to the c64 music compo @ Datastorm 2012 done on C64 6581 Sid <3 came 4th - v. tough competition this year *grin* am still boggling at Goto80's randomised sid tunage which did make me grin too :) a damn fine party all round, see you all next year :O)

This tune plays around quite a bit with the limits of the wave duty on the c64, deliberately overdoing it so it maxxes out at times in time with the tune, it does mean that different 6581 chips sound a tickle different when playing it back tho *grin* which is all part of the fun :) the chip it is recorded from this time is a 6581 r4, thanks to Zyron for grabbing it off his c64 (I'm not near my machines atm and it saves me a bunch of time, ta m8) \o/

Here's my little tune I did for a little party this weekend called Gubbdata - works bestest off a real c64 *grin* emulators won't run this tune quite right - it should play back with a chunky filter like in this audio clip ... (in fact certain later revisions of the 6581 sid chip won't it seems - I just love hammering the old sid chippy; it sometimes happens *grin*)

Anyway - hope it brightened up a gloomy Saturday :)

Soundtrack I did a while back to the 64k Amiga intro by  Dekadence entitled "Koppis" which came 1st at the Edison demoparty this week in Sweden \o_ features some dirty percs from a Coleco talking teacher, a talking calculator and the C64 all in about 30kbytes of space :)

Ne7 - Deepstar Six (Amiga A500)

Here's about 6 minutes of me playing around with various loops sourced from 2 wonderful iterations of FM3's buddha machines, see here for more info - http://www.fm3buddhamachine.com/v2/ < samples have not been processed other than cutting up and in some cases re-looping or pitching / sequencing individual hits.

Tech. used to sample includes direct sampling via speaker + pickup coil and normal line out and the fantastic borderlands spatial sound placement tool... 

The great thing about playing around with pickup coils is the sounds then have something closer to the real vibe of the little unit in question - taking a headphone output into a digital recorder is one thing - but actually hearing the sound as you would through the mini speaker adds a lot to some of depth of the sounds used... :)

Anyway - this was super fun to put together, certainly took the pain out of the horrible train delays I had to put up with this week <3

PS - I'm fully aware I could have EQ'd all the life and soul out of these sounds to make them all shiny and noiseless or cut out the lovely bangs, crashes and breathing - I don't want to - I like them :P

Andy Lemon - HiHi MaoMao Castle [NES] [VRC6]

Picture, if you will: it's 1989 and you've just bought a new Konami Egyptian themed RPG on the Nintendo Famicom. You plug it in carefully and turn it on; the opening scene begins - in-game we navigate to a mighty pyramid and enter its dusty corridors with only a match, some tinder and a small torch to light our way...  

Alternatively you can picture me spending Sunday grinning like a prat trying to cram this rather complex Radiohead tune into a dead console audio format with only 7 simultaneous tuned notes for no reason whatsoever :P

Random Trivia - this uses absolutely zero filters to create the sounds, it's all ringmod + distortion + sync :)

It's a bit metal :)
