Fresh off releasing his first track of the year, “Demons,” Liam Tracy has quickly returned with his follow-up single, “Heartless.”

Produced by the iconic Statik Selektah, “Heartless” combines the prolific Boston legend’s timeless style with Liam Tracy’s deft lyricism and perceptive storytelling. “Heartless” sounds like a modern throwback, as the vintage Statik beat is accented by contemporary elements to impart dexterous production. And with Liam’s words layered on top, this collaboration is brimming with easter eggs while still remaining accessible. The track premiered today via HipHopDX.

While the Statik instrumental is captivating unto itself, it doesn’t consume the listening experience; rather, it acts as an invisible hand guiding Liam’s pen. The New York artist uses this soulful soundscape to channel his astute wordplay: “I used to drive a Thunderbird pushing on E, now we ain’t talking ’less that ‘E’ between the ‘C’ and ‘O,’ he raps with his effortless flow.

“Liam came through and it was organic,” Statik tells HipHopDX. “The joint came out right! He’s a dope cat on some New York City shit.”

“Heartless” acts as a microcosm for Liam’s versatility: not only do the dense verses showcase Liam’s refined pen game, but the hook’s lo-fi aesthetic demonstrates his multifaceted approach.

With rewind-worthy bars, an engaging hook, and transcendent production, “Heartless” has something for every hip-hop fan.

This release from JD3 is a live recording from their sold out show at Jazz Cafe in 2018 featuring the likes of TinyMan (MC & host of the night), Teni Tinks (vocals), DT Soul (Vocoder & talkbox) & NK-OK (BlueLab Beats)
.
 This live recording encapsulates the synergy and spontaneity that revolves around the hip hop trio who formed in 2017. The trio is fronted by London based musician Duayne Sanford (Dua Lipa, Christine & The Queens, Liam Payne, Akala, Roots Manuva, Honne). On bass is Abel Addington (Roots Manuva, Liam Payne, Rachel Foxx) & on keys is David Mrakpor (BlueLab Beats, Banger Factory). The combined rhythms & melodies of Jamaica, Ghana & Nigeria (their combined heritage) make for a tasty cocktail of musical blends. This trio was founded on a common love for the late great J Dilla’s extensive discography of cleverly sampled instrumentals & tracks. Their eclectic sound is inspired by the legendary producer with a live spin. 

Collectively they have worked with the likes of Iman Omari, J Dilla’s blood brother Illa J. They have played multiple sold out shows at the world famous London Jazz Cafe & prestigious venue Ronnie Scott’s.
