"When we spoke about this magical sunrise slot we had a few things in mind: 1st to create new tracks & edits that fits the Burning Man energy, 2nd to play music that will be relevant for years to come and lastly, to come prepared but also play what feels right at that given moment.

Seeing the sun rising on the playa being surrounded by an amazing group of individuals... What can we say? It was tons of pure fun and we couldn’t ask for more.

Recorded in the early summer of 2022.  Fucking around playing some new tracks one day and thinking I may have something here, but wanted to take another pass at it. Well, that's not happening, so fuck it. It's OK! 

I hope you're OK. Seems lots of people are still struggling and if you are, it's OK. It's OK to not want to go out and be around people. It's OK to not be OK. But if I can do the smallest thing and share some music that might offer some relief, some lift in your heart - a clearing in your head, then that makes me happy. I hope you can see that one day soon the clouds will part, there will be great warm hugs, belly laughs and dancing. Its' hard to see sometimes, but it's there. It will come.

This year I wanted to do the same. I’d just finished two long weeks of touring and wanted to have a good dance with friends.
Everything fell into place when the Mayan crew reached out and told me there was an open slot for me to play. I so excited and jumped right in. It's the kind of event where you don't need to think about what to play, you just feel it.

Pure energy from one of electronic music's brightest lights: Sofia Kourtesis. Clamour had built around the Peruvian artist's poignant brand of house music following a string of EPs and 12"s, culminating in last year's Madres—a passionate, vulnerable and excellent album that resonated widely.

Madres packed in rare specificity for a dancefloor record, combining paeans to the power of sound with direct tributes to the neurosurgeon who saved the life of Kourtesis' mother. (Kourtesis even took him clubbing in Berlin as an additional thank you.) The album's earworm melodies and approachable aura helped launch Kourtesis from bubbling to breakthrough on the global stage. In both sound and impact, it mirrors another record: Swim, the 2010 classic made by Kourtesis' friend and mentor, Dan Snaith.

Speaking of @caribouband: RA.943 kicks off with a brand new Sofia Kourtesis & Daphni collaboration, before powering through summer-ready cuts from LUXE, Floating Points, IceMorph, DJ ADHD and an old Oliver Lieb classic. Andy's early musical influences range between punk, funk, soul and disco. Before DJing he was a drummer but the band broke up. He started DJing in the late 90s and over the years Andy has had several long-running club residencies and DJ'd alongside legends as Claude Von Stroke, Damian Lazarus, Jesse Rose, Green Velvet, Nora En Pure, Swayzak, Pezzner, The Lawnchair Generals, Justin Martin, and DJ T. He currently has over 50 releases out on various labels in Canada, the United States, Argentina, Australia and the UK. His music has been supported by Justin Martin, Mark Farina, Walker & Royce, Sam Divine, The Inland Knights, Carlo Gambino and more. He has DJ'd at several BC music festivals including The Squamish Valley Music Festival, Shambhala, Basscoast, Festivus and Soundwave. Currently living in Squamish BC, Andy enjoys a balanced life between music, skis and bikes.
