Arcade Fire sahen in Anfangszeiten wie Hippies aus und genossen den Ruf, eine der vielseitigsten Indierockbands zu sein. Bis heute spüren die Fans die enorme Energie bei den Liveshows. Musikalisch dagegen verwirren die Kanadier nun ein weiteres Mal. Nachdem 2013 bereits das Doppelalbum „Reflektor“ eine Tanzplatte war, wirkt das neue Werk „Everything now“ teilweise als wären ABBA auferstanden – Arcade Fire präsentieren Popmusik der 70er und 80er, durchaus kitschig klingend und immerzu eingängig. Meint die Band das ernst oder ist die musikalische Neuausrichtung ein Witz? Als Fan der ersten Stunde mag man darauf diesmal keine befriedigende Antwort finden.
