Last June Sonar Kollektiv released the album „Inspiration“, the wonderful collaboration between bass legend Jah Wobble and eccentric singer extraordinaire PJ Higgins. Having Dennis Bovell and a certain Lee Scratch Perry remixing „Watch How We Walk“ off said album two of the style-defining pioneers of Dub already contributed their strokes of genius. 

Regarding reputation New York based legend Bill Laswell is second to none either. His remix for „I Did Bad“ is at the same time a lesson and a speleology on the subject of Dub. Plainly audible a champion of a league of it's own at work. 

Oliver Frost (next to Eva Be) is somehow the in-house dub remixer at Sonar Kollektiv. His impressive portfolio spans dubby reworks of  Recloose feat. Joe Dukie, Fetsum, re:jazz and Horace Andy. Now he adds two remix versions of „I Did Bad“ to it – putting his characteristic trademark sound on the original without doing it any kind of harm.

04 - Jah Wobble Presents PJ Higgins - I Did Bad (Bill Laswell Remix)

Wil Bolton's 'Maemi' takes its title from the Korean word for cicadas. Recorded live at Cafe OTO, London during the Home Normal label's Homenormalism festival on 3 August 2013, Wil weaves effected guitar drones, synthesizer, music box, effects pedals and environmental sounds creating a slow moving dronescape. The environmental sounds - timber mill machinery, traffic, and the buzz of cicadas - were recorded in Incheon, South Korea in August 2012, during an artist residency at the Incheon Art Platform.

One year after his debut album release mCurtis is back with Yomi Remixed. 

A wonderful and emotional album is now getting a remix treatment from his fellas and mutual producers around the globe, plus we get two new versions from his original album songs as well. 

The remixers gave their unique music signature over the original tracks, as their remixes fills up as a full album we get a collection of ten fresh remixes. Ranging from trip-hop to downtempo electronica, and from trip jazzy breaks to drum'n'base.

Out 8th July on limited edition, hand-numbered and signed double 10” vinyl, the “Archipelago Remixes EP” by Hidden Orchestra is a real treat, with reworks from King Britt, DC Breaks, Kelpe and Long Arm providing a fresh spin on tracks from 2012’s hugely acclaimed ‘Archipelago’ album. Highly intricate and beat-heavy, the Hidden Orchestra originals are an adventure playground for any remixer, and the results from this eclectic array of talent are stunning and intriguing in equal measure. 

The DC Breaks Remix of “Vorka” sees the pair of Andy C protégés twisting the ethereal beauty of this track, which originally came out as the second single. Possibly the only drum ‘n’ bass track to feature a hook played on a musical saw? On the flip, King Britt’s Remix of “Vorka” finds the revered DJ and globetrotting musical multi-tasker turning the same original into a slow-burning house cut, with added vocal hooks.

The second 10” opens with Fourth Wall (Kelpe Remix). Slowing the tempo and upping the oddball factor, London based producer Kelpe, whose fans include Huw Stephens (BBC R1) and Tom Ravenscroft (6Music), strips back bandleader Joe Acheson’s dramatically layered composition and rebuilds it with the highly original rhythmic style that has established him as a heavyweight talent. “Reminder” is reworked into a high definition ambient soundscape by Long Arm (Project Mooncircle) whose jazz-influenced style has had major props from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs and Gilles Peterson.

Since its release in late 2012, the ‘Archipelago’ LP has gained heavy press support including Q, Clash, The Independent, BBC Music, The Scotsman, The Line of Best Fit and Wax Poetics. This mesmerising music has also hooked daytime and specialist radio tastemakers alike, with play from Stuart Maconie, Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson, Cerys Matthews, Nemone and Huey Morgan on BBC 6Music; as well as Ally McCrae (BBC R1 Introducing), John Kennedy (XFM), Goldierocks (Selector), Late Junction (BBC R3) and Jamie Cullum (BBC R2).

I enjoy making sounds using my computer. I am not by any means a refined producer but I hope my original/creative ideas shine through regardless.  I'd hope my tracks come across as ambitious at best. My tracks are not for sale at the moment, are currently used for promotional/entertainment purposes and are typically made free within 2-3 months. I'm open to any collaborations, just PM me.
