I don't believe in the politics of rich men,

Song For The Precariat

I’ve been looking down the barrel of death and glory,
I’ve been trying to find a way to bring victory,
And I know I should be resourceful,
But no man I know is remorseful,

And under the stage lights I see eyes are moving and mouths are making noise,

Now I know we can be more soulful,

Space

I’m going to get myself out of this mess I’m in,

I met you under carnival lights in December of 2005,
I’d never met somebody as bright as you,
In those dark days filled with whisky and coke,
You took my hand and you swore you wouldn’t let me go,
I was standing in the shade of your soul to keep warm,
Well I was living in colour, it was not so bad,
When the burden of love only gets you sad,
You’ve got no choice to uncover, let them go.

When you married me in red, I thought that was it,
I’d be better off dead,
Adorned in luxury, it never meant anything to me. 
Now don’t let your head get filled with thoughts of hate,
They call you friend when they've got something to gain,
I’ve known you long enough to know who you are and who you’ve been aint the same.

You left me frozen on a Saturday night around October ten years down the line,
Hollow sounds emptied your throat into my mind,
From a constant blessing to a constant hum,
I’ve read tales of depression and the divorce of love,
Poetry is simple relief when the words can’t hit home to you

Unrequited love come back to me, you’ve left me long enough to know how lucky that I have been


Carnival Lights

Thatcher’s kids they were coming to a decline,
So they create another generation of devils to decide,
The fate of the masses consigned to a pound sign,
With double standards you’ve twisted their minds and now you wonder why,
They won’t stop in the street to help when the risk affects their own lives,
And the fact that they don’t care about nobody else should be no surprise,

You’ve bred devils in the image of your own
You’ve made degenerates that your generation bestowed
So put it all on black and we will be damned 
And if it lands on the wrong colour then we will pick up the tab 

Divide and rule, that’s the trick to rule the masses
And this land’s been using that on their very own working classes
Times are tough so pit the dogs against the cats,
Poor man’s begging for change while the rich man’s getting fat,
You say survival of the fittest, that’s the mantra for the living,
Now everybody’s into themselves and nobodies into giving,

You’ve bred devils in the image of your own
You’ve created degenerates your generation bestowed

If it lands on the wrong colour we’ll pick up the tab

 You told them to be brash is to be big,
Selflessness is weak and selfishness is king,
You never taught them that alpha male is just a code word for prick,
Now your little devils, they’re spiking your drinks, 
They left you hungry, 
They left you sleeping in the streets, 
The state don’t care about your health,
They just want a share of your wealth,
They will leave you feeling anxious,
They will leave you feeling depressed, 
So break free of their shackles and trust that you know best!


Unsafe European Home

I see those hateful, suspicious eyes looking over me,
Some say its just unloving but I know what I see,
Your mind's been draped in a past built on lies and deceit,
The same privilege that you've dwelled in,
Is the same one that you took from me and my family.

Don't you know, I have been so low,
With those words you said to me long ago,
Give me time to think, I don't need anymore drink,
It wont cure these unending arguments inside my head,
I'd be better off dead.

There were months where I was blind and couldn't see the light,
I only stayed alive for the life in my Mother's eyes,
I was on my own in this darkened room,
Cigarettes and coffee with the songs that were sung by the ones that are no longer part of the known.

You wont know all the pain and hurt that I've gone through for you

This ain't no fantasy, no Stephen King novel,
This is real life, no fictional horror.

Do you know the damage that you've done to the women and children of loved ones?
Yet you still wonder in disgust why there is no salute to icons

You left your flag draped over lungs of oxygen starved grandsons 
Then made them the 'call to arms' when you knew the time was their turn,
You left families alone whilst wealth was sold to your land,
'' Let the unfed be left for dead'', while you take all that you can.

You plundered, bled and took for all that it was worth,
But in the footnotes of your history books it still reads that no one hurt,
Skull, cross and bone as you set your ship to sail,
And you still wave the red, white and blue as if no wrong was done in its name!

Sleep deprived, sweet, so delicate, with the thoughts of others always in your head,

I was spitting blood and I was looking for the rope,
Some alcohol to numb the melancholic hope,
And then you came like an angel to fix my sorrow,

I've been to those lonely places, the ones where you live inside your head,
I know the pain etched on your face, the kind that makes you feel like your better off dead,

Because the times we spent meant more than this,

If I could swim across this riverbed to stop the stars from falling out of your heart, then maybe we could find some innocence,

Ironically I think it was yesterdays crimes that made anarchy reign down on these streets tonight
