Legendary figures in the South American underground dance scene, Kamilo Sanclemente and Andre Moret debut together on Clubsonica Records with a twin-tracker of outstanding quality. A single remix from a production duo who have shaped the progressive scene sees D-Nox & Becker complete the package.

Requiring little in the way of introduction, Kamilo Sanclemente has been at the vanguard of South American dance music for over a decade. Responsible for some 1200 production credits stretching back to 2013, the Colombian has seen his work wedded to a suite of high-profile labels that include Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives Digital, Paul Hazendonk’s Manual and Paul Thomas’ UV. Colombian imprint, Clubsonica, has also played no small part in that success with a clutch of remixes and original material, including several with fellow countryman and label head honcho, Juan Pablo Torrez. Andre Moret has also been a staple of the South American progressive fraternity with a glorious selection of releases on Kasey Taylor’s Vapour Recordings, D-Nox’s Sprout and the legendary, Transensations Records. Born in Campinas, the Brazilian’s accomplished piano-playing has stood him in good stead during a celebrated and much-lauded career. As a production pairing, the duo’s work for Balkan Connection, The Purr and Plattenbank, have witnessed a stellar music collection as Kamilo Sanclemente and Andre Moret join together for their Clubsonica debut.

Opener, “Spectre”, is a chunky rhythmic affair with familiar percussive shakers and copious amounts of rich effects littering the stereo spectrum. A thumping bassline progression and counterpoint melodic layers provide intrigue aplenty and arpeggiated urgency. An intelligent breakdown that subtly slows the arpeggiation before building to a rising and dramatic crescendo, the track then drops back into familiar groove-laden territory with delicate leads adding depth, atmosphere and emotion.

Partner track, “Paradox”, brings in Yudi Watanabe, a rising force within Brazil’s progressive and melodic underground. Based in Campinas, Yudi has steadily built a reputation for his emotionally rich sound design and deep, flowing grooves, showcased across a growing catalogue on labels such as Sprout, Plaisirs Sonores, NightColours, and Clubsonica, to name a few, consistently charting for its warm harmonics and evocative atmospheres. “Paradox” hits the ground running with its deliciously emotive running bassline. A syncopated arpeggio captures attention with its melodic vibrancy while ethereal vocal layers add a hands-in-the-air moment. Rising to its zenith, the second half oozes quality with a new complementary lead line that adds real purpose and dancefloor vibrancy.

D-Nox & Beckers have been key figures in the Progressive House and Melodic Techno genres for over 20 years. Gracing the world’s finest clubs and festivals in more than 70 countries and 5 continents, the pair’s production work has shone a bright light on their joint credentials, seeing some 400 credits on such elite imprints as Christian Smith’s Tronic, Dave Seaman’s Selador and John Digweed’s Bedrock Records. Throw in a century of credits on D-Nox’s own #1 ranked Progressive House label and it is not hard to see the appeal generated by the D-Nox & Beckers marque. Another debutant pairing on Clubsonica, their remix of “Spectre” is driven by chest-thumping kick and meticulously crafted bassline groove. Redolent in trademark retro synth sounds, a delightful lead line cleverly mirrors the bass progression while counterpoint phrases add dynamism and club-friendly energy. Cleverly taking the themes inherent in the original, D-Nox & Beckers’ skill is take that sound and extend it into new and intriguing directions, serving to showcase their effervescent and polished sound in a magnificent EP.

Wunderkind Nils Hoffmann pairs up with Philipp Wolf and Moritz Hofbauer for a two-track journey into the dark night on Poesie, ‘Symbiosis One’. Pulsing, punching and all-out riveting, Moritz and Nils spin ‘Dawn Patrol’. This is a deep burning banger, and it’s gonna make you sweat with its heavy kicks and dark, gritty pads weather you like it or not. Philipp Wolf brings a more polished sound together with Nils in ‘Need You’. A house-y vibe marked by soulful vocal cuts and energy-building arps laid out over a bass driven percussion. This is a classic in the making, with a warm vibe that contrasts beautifully against the opening track. Grab these while they’re still hot.

The latest release by the Mexican avant-garde label Akumandra is founder Sainte Vie’s three track auditive voyage: From Desolate Places and Forgotten Times. Going beyond previous experimentation with sound assemblage and sampling from non-western musical traditions, Sainte Vie crafts his signature mesmerizing soundscapes by combining dreamlike synth textures, monumental drops and vibrant melodies that feel deeply melancholic. Insistent arpeggios and expansive build ups bind the tracks together in an ebb and flow of dynamic energy. 

High Seas 
Overlaid synth patterns, like waves, propel us into a mixed-percussion drop that settles on a harmonic calm before another surge of synth arpeggios drive us farther along into the thrilling sensation of voyage. 
		
Whale
Disembodied vocals, like cetaceans communicating, echo each other, creating a ghostly undercurrent to the vigorous percussion and futuristic synth arpeggios. 

Darko
Backed by an eerie melody and punctuated by a lead-heavy bass drum, a deep, guttural voice plunges us into the dark flow of time.

Spectral in theme and profoundly engaged with the sensorial quality of music, Sainte Vie’s EP transports the listener to a place that feels distant like uncharted waters, yet familiar like a memory.
