The rain is gone but lockdown is still happening in wintery Epesses, Switzerland.
The reminis of Jailor & Fula's outdoor reveries together are still living inside them and soon to be dispatched again in this atmospheric soundscape compiled with cosmic ambient, dreamy experimental and rock-ambolesque pieces.

Reaching number 70 in our Inchmix series we are treated to a mix that encompasses why we began this project some 8 years ago. Toulouse-based, Tunisian artist @deenaabdelwahed has meticulously curated a vibrant musical map of Levantine & Arabic music. Melting traditional with contemporary, classical with experimental, Abdelwahed sews the songs together from the perspective of where she draws inspiration for her own genre-bending productions. 
It does not serve much purpose for us to constrain these songs through categorisation and labels, however a Foreward from Abdelwahed herself can best contextualize this hour long immersion. Enjoy.  

“I had several goosebumps while recording this actually. 
I started with Islamic trance chants from Egypt and Tunisia, since it’s Ramadan here, it reminded me of its beauty - even if I relate it to some oppressive and hard times… 

From there i’ve highlighted some experimental modern Middle eastern artists that have influenced me before switching to Arab Andalus music from Tunis called Ma'luf - Ma’luf is still considered as the main ‘classy’ music of Maghreb. Then I included my song “Insaniyti” to demonstrate the influence of that music on my track. 
The final tracks of the mix are a mixture of folklore music from Qatar, Bahrain, South of Iran called Fjiri and modern pop from Saudi Arabia. And I finish with US based Saint Abdullah who uses a cassette technique in abstracting Shiaa chants of Iran and blend with overloaded distortion.”

Noises From Above: A Study in Quiet Intrusions is an album shaped around the small, persistent sounds that leak into our private spaces—those half-heard murmurs from neighbours, the distant thrum of traffic, the creaks and hums of a building settling into its own rhythms. The tracks capture a different facet of the world that slips past walls and doors, turning everyday disturbances into textures, moods, and emotional landscapes. It’s an exploration of how these subtle intrusions colour our solitude, interrupt our thoughts, and quietly become part of the soundtrack of living in close proximity to others.

The Quiet Hour

The Luminous Descent is a cosmic oratorio chronicling the fall, transformation, and rebirth of a star-soul. It begins high in the trembling architecture of heaven and plummets through ruptured light into the depths of a crater older than memory. Across twelve movements and a final ascending coda, the piece follows a sacred cycle: collapse, revelation, purification, and return.

The journey opens with the catastrophe of The Orbit Breaks, where ancient equilibrium fails and gravity claims the star. Through the Rupture drags the listener through the torn mantle of the cosmos, into a corridor of pressure where sound bends like molten metal. In Where the Veil Cools to Glass, the descent slows long enough for the star-soul to touch the dimming membrane between realms, condensing its radiance into crystalline form. Halo of Dark and Light reveals a suspended equilibrium—half illumination, half shadow—preparing the soul for what waits below.

With Canticle from the Hollow Sky, faint hymns echo from unreachable altitudes, fading as the soul sinks further. Pressure Cathedral marks the entry into the core-chamber where cosmic weight becomes sacred architecture, every chord a stone column forged from collapse. The Starbone Reliquary uncovers what remains when brilliance calcifies: relics of ancient light preserved in the dark.

Touching the Crater Floor brings the soul to stillness, where impact becomes silence and silence becomes revelation. The Silence That Remembers Fire awakens memory—a distant echo of the star’s earliest light. As the soul ascends toward Shoreline of the Last Radiance, its form becomes diffuse, rejoining the luminous boundary between ruin and renewal.

The final movement, The Luminous Return, reclaims the upward path. The star-soul rises through the strata of its own unraveling, transformed not back to what it was, but into what it must become.

Then comes the coda.

Ember Throne Ascension erupts like a final breath of defiance—a molten electric guitar solo over a cathedral of cosmic sound. It is the spark that refuses extinction, the last ember erupting into brilliance before dissolving into the quiet beyond creation. The oratorio ends uplifted, electrified, ascending: not a fall, but a coronation in fire.
