We are about to hear an American pop standard, a song that was written around the time I was born, by artists from the same part of the world as I.Some amazing renditions of this song have been recorded- and- it's become a tradition to say- that, uh while stretching the song out- we are going to play the song soft, and then play the song hard. I really like that tradition- but- being that I am Terbo Ted, I am not known for playing soft, so here we go.

On his third album in as many years, Terbo steps firmly into new terrain. Most noticeable, however, would be what is missing from this disc. Both of Ted's previous outings were enhanced CDs, with computer games, music videos, etc., but this one is strictly audio. Listeners familiar with Ted's sound may be surprised by the lack of distorted four-on-the-floor techno kick drums-- this time around, Terbo opts for breakbeats, dub and d&b rhythmic stylings. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view) Ted's A.D.D.-laced musical schizophrenia remains intact.

The album gets underway with a number of tunes conceptually centered on spamming, the internet equivalent of junk mail. On "Your Money" and "Six Dollar Lust" Terbo builds his tracks around vocal samples of financial hucksters and porn babes-- some of the more common forms of net spam. About halfway into the disc, Ted goes way off into cut-and-paste land, with the songs broken down into very short movements of about a minute to ninety seconds each. It's kind of like listening to someone flip through the radio dial-- if you happened to live in a place where the airwaves were full of obscure electronica stations.

In spite of Terbo's all-over-the-place musical approach, the 23 tracks here share a sort of cohesion: the album's running order is very well structured, and there are no audio gaps between the songs. The sound quality is fairly consistent-- especially in comparison to the erratic audio mastering on Ted's earlier discs. None of the tunes here would keep a crowd going on the dance floor, or send the listener into tranquil bliss. If you could imagine some busy and freaky internet cafe with a bunch of hookah pipes and pinball machines, this is the soundtrack for it. Pedestrian electronica listeners (or sub-genre-purists) could very well be put off by the adventurous and imaginative tracks Terbo kicks down this time... but listeners searching for new sounds on the electronic front, especially listeners who understand say, free jazz or esoteric world music, may want to check this one out.

Still riffing on the stampede concept.I've been playing tracks like "Zombies For Money - Numbra One" in my sets. This track would zombie with the aforementioned nicely IMO.

Sounds from my iPhone and microKORG, recorded and composed on my MacBook Pro in Digital Performer. iPhone apps: Ministry of Sound iDrum, 3ii3, iBone, miniSynth and NLog. Audio mastering in WavePad, using "Automatic Gain Control".

Start to finish this project took several hours one evening after business hours.
