Prom to collect human sea sounds // Promoción para recolectar sonidos de mar humanas

Angélica Teuta is an artist living and working in Bogotá, Colombia.

She studied Fine Arts at the National University of Colombia. Her work challenges the notion of a  ̈learned ̈ condition and attempts to contrast this against how one is accustomed to experience this reality. We rarely inquire about our conditioning and we have a passive attitude towards our experiences and memories. Teuta ́s work summons the question  ̈why ̈

In her installations, Teuta is looking for a perceptual experience using space and resources such as light, mechanisms, basic technologies, recycled objects and information. The artistic result is an expansion of space and time to affect perception.

RE quest /RE place, at the Gendai gallery, part of Toronto, Canada ́s 25th Images Festival, was Teuta ́s most recent solo show.Other solo exhibitions include; Des pacio Gallery in San José, Costa Rica, Centro Colombo Americano, Alianza Francesa, Cámara de Comercio in Bogotá, Galería La Vitrina in Cali, the Central Library at the National University of Colombia in Medellín, and a site-specific installation in her own home. Teuta also participated in group exhibitions in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, United Kingdom, United States, Costa Rica and Turkey. Her installations have been reviewed in various publications including Artforum and Artnexus.

In September, 2012, Teuta launches the ambitious project  ̈Languages of Birds ̈ at Art York Gallery University (AGYU). Beginning October, 2012, she takes up residency in the Vermont Studio Center. In May, 2013, Teuta will be presenting a solo exhibition at Fotogalleriet in Oslo, Norway.
