Luke Dreamhood – ‘Nerves’ Single

Luke Dreamhood’s new single is about a project he started recently. He wants to create his dream life because of the chances he missed in his childhood. Due to uncertainty he didn’t follow his dream of being a music producer. 

Nerves starts with the sounds of an authentic Buchla Easel Synth to represent the past. A big kick and snappy snare come in to stabilize the project, followed by a strong Moog like bass line to start some movement. A flock of Hi-hats give the song a locomotive drive. The contemporary pucks stand for the future processes. 

The underlying topic of the lyrics is about Luke believing we all can change our live if we want to. This asks setting your mind to it and take action. Dreamhood is also critical about how some governments are supplying rules that are not always in line with what the public wants. It makes this piece of music a modern combination of a positive sounding, meaningful dance track and protest song.

The 'Final Constructions' (Original Mix) track starts off with a processed fat 909 kick and closed hi-hat, when a stereo panned shaker sound joins in. Shortly after followed by a stacked pluck riff. The first break is filled with a simple whoosh and a big cymbal crash. Other breaks have a bell sound motif added. The producers deliberate don't use big breaks, buildup or drops to create a continuous sound. A challenge for Playpat & King, with the 'Final Constructions' track, was to stretch the repetitive riff to the edge. And see how they could differentiate the theme with some simple additives like a monotonous lead sound. Final Constructions asks for a 'let it go' attitude or a 'go with the flow' approach.

Playpat & King like to perform on festivals and in clubs. They noticed that Beach clubs have a special ambiance. 'Beachclub' (Original Mix) is inspired by a performance in Ibiza, where it seems the party's go on day and night. That's why the vibrant track starts as if you are dropped in a continuous beach party. The combined Moog pluck and transcendental sequenced sound are layered with Hi-hats accompanied by other subtle drum sounds. With a rush of drum-sounds the music becomes a multidimensional current of interlocking grooves. Playpat & King love to use plucked sounds for the main theme, with Mirage Key Chords giving the track an ebb and flood drive. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to hear some seagulls fly over the sandy shores.

Beachclub (Original Mix)

'Plastic Brain' (Original Mix) starts with a sharp piano chord progression and echoing hi-hats with a steady pace, when the pumping kick and rumbling triple saw bass join in. The soft Velo Lead from an Arp 2600 synthesizer and a Buchla Easel Automodulation are used as a subtle pad, joined by a typical Playpat and King signature from the stereo panned hi-hats. The massive theme is constructed out of three stacked pluck sounds. A big Sylenth1 lead starts the instrumental chorus. The background movement is created by a Hybrid3 Dance Poly and Jupiter 8 Reso Strings. The inspiration for this track was found by the knowledge that our brain has neuroplasticity and can evolve when you stimulate it. The 'use it or lose it' phrase is created by using as many as possible different instruments. In the middle of 'Plastic Brain' the pluck sounds take over the piano theme to represents the fact that you can train and rewire your brain by creating new habits and keep learning.

For the fourth and last track on the 'Final Constructions EP', 'Arabian Nights' (Original Mix), Playpat and King use a woozy and unmoored arrangement that seems to warp time around it. It was created while thinking about touring Dubai, with it's famous 'The World' and 'Palm Jumeirah' wonders. Keep Dubai's flamboyant dance scene, sparkling night life, the 'too good to be true' shopping malls and entertainment in mind. With subtle bells, pulsed sequences and a strong rhythmic bass line 'Arabian Nights' take us on a road trip to an eastern realm with western orientated ambitions. The oriental mid-phrase, insistently reminds the listener that any blissful state is by nature temporary. At its heart, this is music about and for the daily explorations that offers all kinds of new perspectives on the world. The steady beat accompanied by the spoon rhythm and hi-hat groove will keep you going on a mystifying musical adventure.

Luke Dreamhood  - ‘In My Heart’ Single 			 

On his new single ‘In My Heart’, Luke Dreamhood sings about dealing with the loss of a spouse, friend, relative or perhaps a pet. Music is something that unites us all, comforting the heart and mind in the event of a traumatic event. Since music is a key ingredient in ensuring that we can surpass anything. Luke Dreamhood created this song because he hopes it can bring comfort to its listeners.
The steady going groove, with the typical Luke Dreamhood stereo panned hi-hats, an intriguing bass-line and firm kick. Simple piano chords with a perky chord progression, larded with snare and rhythmic hi-hat patterns, are the basic instrumental ingredients to ‘In My Heart’. 
The lyrics are introduced in a low voice that evokes the phrase ‘I keep you in my heart,’ which sounds like it comes from the depths of the soul. This artificial sounding voice could come from an unknown realm. Representing the mystery of our existence. Spoken word verses are accompanied by singing background voices that express painful feelings. In the chorus Luke Dreamhood seeks to bring comfort in times of distress. The weeping 'In My Heart' bridge represents the doubt of being able to survive if you lose someone.
It is inevitable that we will feel the pain of losing someone or something. It can be a difficult feeling, and our emotions can overwhelm anything we have ever felt before. Luke believes that we can cope with adversity by keeping the memory of someone we have lost in our heart.
