DJ Icey & DJ Baby Anne - Move

In the spring of 98' I picked up a Yamaha EX5 and a Roland JP8000.  Almost as soon as got em' hooked up I was working on this track.  Three days later it was done.  These two pieces of gear expanded my imagination in so many ways with the infinite number of sonic possibilities they provided.  

This particular track was written for and dedicated to a very good friend, Jimbo Robert who went by the nickname "Shmim".  Back in our party nights at Mako's he was one of the baddest breakers out there so I imagined him cuttin' up to it while working on it.  

Dark and evil sounding basses, pads and screeching 303 throughout, it never lets up.  Needless to say at one point or another every techno producer falls in love with the TB303.  This track was my love affair with it...

"Annihilated Rhythm"

The first record we released on our own label, Sundance Recordings and the first track we did as a production team.  Still working with analog gear we began to get better at sequencing and figuring out how not to make things sound bad.  My favorite part of this track is the bassline.  I've always been a huge fan of tracks that have basslines that suck you in and keep your body pulsing along with it.

 We released this with a breaks mix that I did as well.  Several dj's from Florida and Europe put it on mix compilations and this convinced us that we may be on the right track.  Listening to this I can still remember the nights we spent writing it and can't help but think. God I had no idea what I was doing but it sure was fun!!!

....would like to remake this track in the future with the knowledge and experiences we've gained over the past decade!!!

"The Welcoming Sound"... Mendoza and Russell Saltzman

Annending is a track that came almost out of no where's.   I had just gotten a new piece of gear, Yamaha RM1X, and was laying tracks down to figure it out.  Three days later I was completing work on this track.  At this point I was still learning the ins and outs of production, but afterwards I began to feel confident I was headed in the right direction.  

As for the title of the track, only a few know what it actually means, but its very symbolic to what would come in the future.

Another Step

The concept of being Divergent may not register with everyone.  While everyone is unique, not everyone conforms or fits into a norm, a parallel, an accepted way of life.  We have enjoyed a life outside the lines, a presence in the unexpected and an existence in what most would call "different".  Our music is a product of the aforementioned and no exception to the rule.  

Divergent... is the figment of an increasing indefinite imagination.  A sequence that has no limits and tends to develop in different, unexpected directions.  With this track we tried to fit as much as sonically possible through two speakers while twisting the listeners ears and mind in almost infinite directions.  And, just when one thinks they have a glimpse of the way forward, an absolute perfect resolve, the path splits off from the expected, the norm, the almost certain way to go and reminds one that there are no rules in imagination.  There is simply no standard!!!

For us, that's life.  You have no set rules to follow and are bound by nothing... left to be free with your own devices, to design your own self.  We hope that Divergent, along with previous tracks and the tracks we have yet to imagine will be well received by those who truly love the sonic journey within each one! While most will remember him from one of the countless performances with his well known side projects, only few will be able to recall one of Okaxy's (@ninzeokaxy) rare solo performances. While pulling the strings behind two of Germany's highest-rated and most groundbreaking musical novelties, there was indeed little time remaining to take care of his very own career. Yet, the ones who witnessed an Okaxy show can attest it's irrestible, drawing power on the crowd. We feel very sunshiny about the fact, that despite his plural responsibilities he still had the capacity to provide this current snapshot of his taste in music. It's time now to lean back and revel in this sonic goodliness..

To explain the name 1st and foremost...  nothing in life is really easy, for anyone.  We are certainly no exception to that rule.  Daring to dream, setting a goal and then finding the courage, strength and ambition to go after it is hard work in and that of itself.  That set goal always stays in the center of your efforts, but the path one takes to reach set goal might change over and over.  However there are only three hundred sixty degrees in a circle and no matter how many times one goes around that circle, no matter how many times one has to back up and find another way... there is always an               ANGLE OF ATTACK to go after and achieve that dream!!!

Beginning lifes journey in New Orleans Louisiana, surrounded by the funkiest of jazz, the deepest of blues and the hardest of rock, I, Mavi, developed a love for music with emotion at a very early age. My earliest memory is unwrapping a saxophone I received at the age of four. By the age of six I could literally blow everyone away. From there I went onto guitar and remain devoted to the instrument today. Somehow or another I found myself in my early teens wanting to express myself through sound. Hoping to find others wanting the same I tried to form a band, but to no avail I was left to my own devices.

At the impressionable age of fourteen I was taken to an afterhours club by some older friends and heard techno for the first time. I was hooked in seconds. I was captivated by the art of djing and how sound and songs could be combined together to create something new and move an audience. Coincidently Trent Reznor, NIN, released Pretty Hate Machine and after learning his story and how he came to be I knew I could do this myself.

I fell in love with the industrial sound and how many different directions it could be taken in. Which led to the developement of my dark sound as a dj. Spinning mostly tech house and hard trance I witnessed how the energy of this hard driving music moved people in audiences all over the world. I was lucky enough to share the stage with a few of the absolute biggest dj's in the world, to include Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyke.

After a long endeavor into the djing world I realized I had grown tired of only playing other producers music and wanted to use my formal education in music along with an extremely vivid imagination of what I heard in my head to share with others who love this particular sound. Over the years I've experimented with rock, hiphop, pop, dance and the industrial trance sound.

For the past decade I've been living in Miami Florida, a dance music and party mecca. Easily one of the most influential cities in the world. Having allowed some of the newer sounds of today to enter my creations I try to stay within the lines of what hooked me into this world. Time will ultimately tell as to what AOA will be known for.
