Back on Track - by Mechris

My entry for the "Back On Track" April Looptalk Contest. The basic rules involved creating a track with a total FLP size less than 880 kb, no synths allowed, and no more than 8 voices playing at the same time (no more than 8 sounds polyphony - a 4 note chord counts as 4 voices). I used nothing but the basic sound sample shapes included with FL Studio. Every instrument, including the percussion, was crafted using those very short sound pulses.

The task was to create a track whose Zipped Loop Package doesn't exceed 880KB with max. 8 voices at the same time.

Off The Rails

My entry for the August 2021 Image-Line forum music competition.

Rules:
Only two samples allowed -- kick and snare. No volume variations.
All other sounds must be made with the Fruity DX10, a 3-op FM synth. No plugins allowed, and no filters.

As a personal rule, I decided to not use any of the DX10 presets, as I figured I'd take the opportunity to learn some FM synthesis. It really is a weird and not-at-all-intuitive process, more akin to riding a dragon than the brainy work involved in something like Harmor. Had a blast, though!

Also, it turns out I stole the hook from the intro to Sixteen Short, I guess those chords just make sense to me... 

The song was named by Teetow Jr.
