Using low bitrate YouTube snippets, found sound recordings and warped Italo disco samples, Vidéothèque explores a realm of pop constructivism variously within the frames of club euphoria, distant post-rave comedowns, headrush nostalgia, arcade retrofuturism, racing and gambling subcultures and the paradoxical isolation of urban life. This is club music for a different setting, where city lights and vast nouveau riche ultralounges are replaced with narrow warrens of dark alleyways and basement dive bars in commuter towns, and a flash of neon at the entrance is the only indicator of the presence of life - where the near suffocating pressure of the 9 to 5 in offices and factories merely contextualises the after dark and weekend escapism of the nocturnal scene.
