Josh Baker tops off a seismic year with a return to his You&Me label, and the bustling five track EP ‘Come Closer’.

In his breakout year, Baker’s label and party brand celebrated its 10th anniversary, establishing itself as a trusted purveyor of the minimal tech house scene via releases from Danny Snowden, Stef Davidse, JWave, Kieran Morgan & more.

The ‘Come Closer’ EP sees Baker back on his own imprint and collaborating with Sienna Sophia and Lily McKenzie on a brace of scintillating vocal tracks, alongside a trio of other deeper club cuts all laced with the minimal grooves and hooks that has become the trademark sound of his productions and DJ sets.

Baker’s monumental rise as a DJ & producer has seen him partnering up with an ever-growing list of dance music titans, playing B2B with the likes of Seth Troxler, Kettama, Jamie Jones, Propsa, Chris Stussy, Max Dean, Rossi & more.

Other 2025 accolades include DJ Mag’s Breakthrough Producer of the Year, a DJ Mag Ibiza cover feature, Soundcloud Ascending Artist whilst becoming a mainstay at Radio 1 hosting his own Residency in May as well as taking over Pete Tong’s Friday night show.

‘Shine (This Is It)’ is the first single from Soul Clap’s self-titled second album, a project that’s been four years in the making. An uplifting house music anthem, it features legendary vocalist Nona Hendryx and includes remixes from Dimitri From Paris and DJ Rocca aka Erodiscotique. 

Nona Hendryx is an original member of the trio Labelle who’s smash single “Lady Marmalade” is a timeless classic. Her solo singles “Transformation” and “Do What You Wanna Do” from the 80’s are equally prolific to her work as a back-up vocalist for a laundry list of legendary acts including Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel. There is magic contained in ‘Shine (This Is It)’ and the strength in Hendryx's vocal empowers our sprits and moves us on the dancefloor. Midnight Magic’s Morgan Wiley delivers an outstanding keyboard solo and fellow bandmate Jason Disu teams up with Kalí Rodríguez and No Regular Play’s Greg Paulus to form the Soul Clap horn section. 

Remixes come courtesy of Erodicotique a collaboration between Dimitri From Paris, the esteemed French producer who gained huge exposure in the mid 90's for his Playboy Mansion mix series and Sacreblue album and DJ Rocca, the modern Italo Disco master. Their main vocal and dubstrumental renditions take us back to the piano driven, Italo House sound of the 90’s with a classic loon sample to prick the ears of the old school. 

“Shine (This is It) started as an experiment using as many sounds from the Moog Sub37 as possible,’ explain Soul Clap, ‘We wanted to write something that felt as modern as it did retro, which is a typical frame of mind for us over here! It’s the big question how can you charge forward but always nod to the past? Shout out goes to Chuck “Tha Fonk” Fishman and Sa’D “The Hourchild” Ali from the Parliament-Funkadelic mob who put us in touch with Nona Hendryx. She was such a pleasure to work with and got into the groove of this record effortlessly.” 

Starting out cutting their teeth in the early rave scene in Boston, Soul Clap soon found fame through a series of house edits and became household names through notable releases including a DJ Kicks alongside close allies Wolf + Lamb. Their funky electronic sound, called EFUNK, earned them honorary entry into the Parliament-Funkadelic family and a release with George Clinton. As DJs they have played around the world and back again, with residencies at legendary venues like DC10, Output and the Electric Pickle.

After seven albums and almost two decades of blessing us discerning musical folk with the very best in disco and house that the UK has to offer, the stars have aligned and Crazy P has collided with Classic in the outer hemispheres of sonic glory. ‘Truelight EP’ demonstrates fully the unique and superior disco/house hybrid sound that has carved Crazy P’s legend into the bedrock of both those beloved genres. 

‘One True Light’ provides cosmic clusters of subtle beats that sparkle and shimmer, with plenty of that well-versed groove that seems so effortless to the Crazy P crew. ‘In My Hands’ follows some darker twists with a haunting crunching bassline and organ stabs. Topping it all off are remixes of both tracks, one by Crazy P member Hot Toddy aka Chris Todd, drawing on that memorable snaking bottom line and amping up the production with echoes of Donna Summer seduction. Keeping it firmly within the camp, co-founder Ron Basejam remixes ‘One True Light’, taking the tempo down to create lush, psychedelic soundscapes. There’s no doubt, Crazy P are stronger and more relevant than ever.

Ralphi Rosario is a pioneer of house music, kicking off an influential DJ career in Chicago when he was still in high school. The remixes and productions that followed have garnered him #1 Billboard Dance Chart hits as well as more than 20 well-respected years spinning records. He’s an artist who represents the ethos of Glitterbox Recordings, with decades of quality house music history woven into every beat. Also in line with the spirit of the label, ‘Wanna Give It Up’ is a classic track given some very tasteful modern updates, from Full Intention, Dr Packer and Jamie 3:26. Full Intention are first, employing their signature grooving bassline for a very bouncy little number. A suitably funked-up version from disco edits maestro Dr Packer is present and correct, alongside a ‘Disco Party Version’ from Chicagoan Jamie 3:26, amping the party up a further notch with some irresistible clinking percussion and a lazy-cool groove. Finally completing the package is the familiar ‘Légo’s Dub’ from the original release.

Luke Solomon returns to Classic with his first original record on the label in three years. Following on from his disco house pumper ‘Stop The Riot’ Luke continues his winning musical recipe in ‘Light You Up’, serving up another Michelin star feast for the ears. Luke enlists the poetic talents of Queen Rose and his recent disco cohort Amy Douglas, who is no stranger to Classic having collaborated with Juan Maclean on his Juan Maclean’s Peach Melba project. Pushing the live connection, Luke brings in long-time friend Andy Neal on bass and guitar, and Powerdance bandmate Danny Ward aka Moodymanc behind the drums, injecting that authentic disco funk feel and making this collaboration even more of a family affair. Already being championed by boogie overlords Horse Meat Disco, this single - which sends out a positive message from the get-go - is soon set to light up a dance floor near you, as the track says “Get up! Leave your cares and woes in your seats”.

The much-loved Take It Back Mix, a Sandy Rivera and Jose Burgos (aka Soulvision) production, has repeated soft funk-infused riffs behind husky vocals and bass kicks, alongside their Dub version. This package also features Sandy’s Original Mix and the bouncing 09 Remix. UK producer Mark Knight showcases his blossoming sound in his warped Toolroom Boys Mix with its wobbling bassline. London based DJ / producer Alan Dixon makes his Glitterbox debut with the gospel inspired dancefloor cut ‘Bless Me Today’. With previous releases on Midnight Riot and Marcel Vogel’s Lumberjacks In Hell, Alan’s soulful outputs have garnered him a few high profile fans including Gerd Janson and DJ Tennis, who both have played his records at recent gigs. The stunning gospel vocals bring a classic disco sound to this funk-laden track, and legendary German DJ Phonk D’s remix enhances this, maintaining the authenticity of the track’s sound whilst aligning it further to today’s dancefloors.

An esteemed selector Danny’s prolific remixing and production capabilities have touched hundreds of records – with his signature flare shaping the New York City sound. Opening the two-track release is Danny edit this summer’s seminal track The Vision’s ‘Heaven’, interweaving a gloriously groovy bassline with Andreya Triana’s vocal to produce an extended, DJ friendly mix that he sent crowds wild with at Dekmental Festival. Up next, Mr K delves a little deeper into the Defected catalogue, trying his hand at The DangerFeel Newbies’ ‘What Am I Here For (Original NDATL Vocal)’. Danny’s stripped back version extends the jazzy, percussive original, as velvety smooth vocals and elegant keys bring this expressive and sophisticated release to a close.
