"It’s an honour to be involved. So many of my biggest production influences have been on this mix in the past so yeah great to be involved. The energy. Throughout this mix I wanted to keep things deep, rolling and groovy. I get things started with a tonne of my fav 90’s and 2000’s prog and then move into some newer sounds toward the end. Included of course my own track ‘Dream Realm’. Which dropped on Ryugu Records on the 18th of July. This mix i’d say is perfect to stick on at the afters or getting yourself ready for the night ahead. The Sustain-Release co-founder steps up to the Phonica mix just ahead of the acclaimed festival’s 11th year. 
New York has an iconic history when it comes to club music, and over the years has seen many great names emerge from its underground scene. In modern times, Aurora Halal is undoubtedly one of those names. 
Aurora has become a staple at forward-thinking institutions like Berghain, De School, and her home base, Nowadays, where she holds a residency. Alongside her international touring, she’s carved out her own vital space through the long-running Mutual Dreaming parties and Sustain-Release, the DIY-rooted festival she co-founded, which continues to push boundaries as it enters its second decade.
Her Phonica mix offers a vivid snapshot of her deep, intuitive approach to DJing—captured live at Mansions, a cozy NYC wine bar turned house party haven. Known for her genre-fluid sets that blend hypnotic techno, house, acid and experimental textures this is the perfect calling card to showcase why she can hold it down with a range of greats like DJ Nobu, Vladimir Ivkovic and more.
We had a chat about the mix with Aurora as well as touching off Sustain and some of her favorite moments at the festival.

The first long player to drop on Radiant Records is Pansy Beat, the debut album from label head Byron Yeates.

The ten tracks on Pansy Beat are suffused with Byron’s musical influences, showcasing the full breadth and depth of his sonic world. Woven with subtle nods to the UK rave continuum, the album reverberates with the sounds of ’90s London radio that soundtracked Byron’s early years.

Starry-eyed IDM, jangly electronica, rolling drum and bass, and playful references to new wave and synth-pop converge alongside the rich tapestry of house music on which Yeates has built his reputation as a DJ and producer.

Carefully arranged and seamlessly flowing, the tracks balance playful charm with serious intent — insouciant basslines, glossy synths, dreamy pads, and moody atmospherics are laced with clever sampling and intricate percussion — a journey to the end of the night that tiptoes between euphoria and melancholy with a subversively camp pop sensibility.

Sitting somewhere between a dance music and home listening album, Pansy Beat echoes the mood of a DJ set from Byron Yeates: an intimate, seductive, and playful collection of tracks, grounded by a classic sensibility shaped by a lifetime of musical word-building.
