I was terrifically drunk on my trip back home and started playing ukulele (because what else do you do when you're terrifically drunk?) and my dear friend Kevin who rarely gets as drunk as I but had ingested quite a bit of whiskey started singing too and made up some stuff so I was like "Yo, hold up while I turn on this here recording device" and so we did it again and here it is. Written and drunkified by yours truly.

Someday I will finish the piano track for this but like, tonight is the blue moon, man. So I'll do that later maybe.

I've been wanting to do this cover for quite a while, this song has been my current mood for days. I discovered the Shins when I was in high school but (for better or worse) I don't think I'll ever outgrow them. Each album is inextricably linked to memories of my earlier life and simultaneously forever relevant to me emotionally. If the movie of my life had a soundtrack, this song would undoubtedly be on it somewhere. (Photo is my elementary school November 2016, 35mm)
