Relocating from Poland to London at a young age, ANII’s brand of melodic and emotion-packed techno quickly caught the attention of many of the industry’s biggest names. A flurry of standout releases on Kompakt, Afterlife and Anjunadeep saw her become a staple on the European scene where she has supported the likes of Paul Kalkbrenner, Michael Mayer and KiNK. Now based in Lisbon, ANII runs her own imprint , ANIITIME, where she has just released her incredible 9th EP in the space of 2 years.

With an impressive catalogue of works spanning the likes of Afterlife, Renaissance, Somatic, Herzblut and many more of Techno’s premium stables, Lisbon-based, London-raised and Polish-born DJ, Producer and now Label Boss ANII is arguably one of the genre’s most exciting female prospects. Backed by continuous support from many of the industry’s most significant names, ANII now steps forward into new territory as she prepares to launch her own label project, ‘TOO GOOD TO DIE’, on 9th November.
ANII has made it her mission to convey emotional dancefloor experiences weaved from an intricate tapestry of techno and house cuts. Affecting the scene globally, ANII’s showings at the likes of Watergate, Printworks, Hï Ibiza, Ushuaia, Theatre D’orange and countless others have enabled her to perpetuate as one of electronic dance music’s most enigmatic, emotional, and exciting names.
The debut single on her new label Portal’, offers up the first of many doses of unconfined creativity and limitless expressionism. ANII marks this milestone in her career with an emphatic club record primed to ignite dancefloors worldwide. Bursting at the seams with driving drum grooves, subtle percussive flare, profoundly gritty musicality, stirring intensity and ethereal nuances, “Portal” envelopes all of the elements that have seen ANII shine in past releases, brought to the fore with an updated more mature sonic understanding and solid storytelling aspect.

Over the years, Berlin has been cited as Oliver Koletzki’s main point of reference and, more importantly, his endless source of inspiration. His albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 are wholehearted tributes of the German capital, as its importance is continuously hinted and charted.  Friedrichshain, one of Berlin’s vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Oliver’s heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Kreuzberg’s wall paintings adorn Stil Vor Talent ’s cover sleeves and host their headquarters. There are little to no corners in the city that haven’t brought a spark of inspiration into the mix. A showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic scene, Anjunadeep’s Explorations series returns for its fifteenth instalment, featuring Anjunadeep alumni M.O.S., Nuage and OCULA and three debutants in ANII, Nōpi and Igor Garanin.

Kicking off the compilation is Russian trio M.O.S. with ‘Khimiya’. Hosting an array of percussion and rich atmospheric pads, the trio demonstrate why they have been supported by Lee Burridge, Guy J and Sébastien Léger. In a marked contrast, Lisbon-based ANII delivers a heavier club-cut in ‘Let’s All Make Love’. ANII’s successful career in the electronic scene has seen her release on labels including Afterlife and Kompakt. 

Next up, Nuage returns to the label with ‘Reflection 2020’, following his previous Anjunadeep EPs ‘Abandoned Sun’ and ‘H.A.L.O’. Leading with breakbeat drums, Nuage showcases his textured productions that have been supported by Phil Taggart on BBC Radio 1. OCULA explores morphing synth riffs in ‘Tephra’, paying homage to his well-known nostalgic, progressive sound that was first endorsed by deadmau5 and Lane 8.

Making his Anjunadeep debut, Nōpi brings his heartfelt track ‘Famous’ to the EP, featuring a wide palette of sound design. Finally, we welcome Azerbaijan-native Igor Garanin for his label debut in ‘Sunday Driver’, offering a deep percussive-cut characterised by a growling bass.

Anii is a lifelong devotee of electronic music - starting with drum’n’bass, before moving on to electro and, eventually, house and techno. She began experimenting with turntables in her late teens, leaving her homeland for London, where she started to build her career from the ground up.

Over a decade later she is a fully-fledged member of the London scene, immersing herself in the city’s clubs, warehouses and after parties ever since she arrived. Anii is a studio hound, dedicating her waking hours to learning, refining and creating consistently.

The result has been a series of releases with a range of highly-respected labels such as Afterlife, Drumcode, Kompakt, Aeon, Selador, Parquet and her own labels ANIITIME  and TOO GOOD tO DIE. Each release has demonstrated her innate ability to transmit deep emotion, with solemn melodies and wistful pad work, while moving the dance floor with potent, contagious rhythms. 

Her label TOO GOOD tO DIE is currently six releases deep, showcasing Anii’s penchant for pulsating basslines and deeply affecting composition, from emotive pads to powerful piano riffs and transcendent atmospheres. This is the place where Anii has found her truest self, enjoying the catharsis of complete autonomy, releasing music whenever she feels the need and picking up a dedicated group of followers in the process. 

It’s been a difficult journey at times, but Anii has held strong, maintained a positive outlook and continued to work hard to achieve her dreams. Creating her own safe space to explore electronic music freely has empowered her to take great strides forward. 

Now a respected member of the world she always wanted to be a part of, she’s sharing her journey with the rest of the world and inviting everyone to come along for the ride...
