Beginning a new season of Chillhop Music’s Essentials series is Birocratic, Kosmicho, and Ross Mayfield's collaborative track "Midnight Veil". The instrumental launches us into Summer 2025, where the three artists set the tone with an upbeat, guitar-driven groove bursting with warm energy. Layered with jazzy vibes, crisp synths, and infectious drums, the track feels like sunset cruising with the windows down in a brand new coupe. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to step outside in a pair of sunglasses, ready for the warmth to take over. 

“Midnight Veil” is the first single off of Essentials Summer 2025, with the second single out on June 5, and the full compilation dropping on June 12.

Summer is officially here! The newest edition of our Chillhop Essentials series, Summer 2025 is our 38th compilation in this ongoing seasonal tradition. 

With nearly 50 artists across 28 instrumentals, Essentials Summer 2025 is a community-driven project full of sunshine and life. Pack your sunscreen and throw on some flip-flops because these energized yet laid-back instrumentals are sure to soundtrack your time by the pool, by the beach, or simply cruising around your city with the windows (finally) down. Summer is a time to close the laptop and step out into the world, taking on new adventures and embracing the extended daylight. Featuring familiar names like Ruck P, Birocratic, Ian Ewing, Nymano, Moods, Misha, and so many others (like the long-awaited return of Tantu Beats and the Chillhop debut of SYNC.EXE), this 70+ minute release is perfect for your summer months ahead.

Whether it's jazzhop, lofi hip-hop, chillhop, instrumental beats, boom bap, or old school, whatever you want to call it, this summertime collection has a little something for everyone. So grab your sunglasses, your beach towel, and your pool noodle. When you're done, you can chill out, because Summer is here.

We proudly present: Timezones Nigeria, a 22-track compilation created to honor the depth and diversity of Nigeria’s instrumental music, while forging new connections between Nigerian & Chillhop-affiliated artists.

Dedicated to the people driving the sound forward, half the compilation is driven purely by a lineup of Nigeria’s brightest producers and artists, who deliver vibes upon vibes through a chill, instrumental lens. And then, 11 collaborative tracks featuring Chillhop-affiliated artists are scattered across the tracklist, bridging two musical styles in new ways while ensuring that the Nigerian sound remains dominant.

To ensure that Timezones Nigeria reflects the depth and nuance of the country’s music and visual culture, we partnered with Nigerian visual artists and illustrators to develop the project’s artwork and visual identity, and tapped a Nigerian cultural advisor to guide our decisions with care and awareness at every step. The result is a compilation that’s equal parts grounded and innovative, with afrobeats, alté and highlife instrumentals driving the sound.

This is just the beginning. With Timezones, we aim to continue highlighting pioneering instrumental scenes across the globe and creating new connections with one goal: curating boundary-pushing instrumental music that pays homage to its roots.
